So at around 1.5 homicides per 100k it is fairly typical for much of the urban U.K. in fact North Wales has a higher rate in 2018. Manchester is consistently higher. Having a population that dwarfs the rest of the U.K. makes London look bad. I lived in South London for three years and had far more hassles and threats in one year in Oxford

You say that, as if that's ok, and using figures and comparisons to other major cities. I can understand why you make those comparisons, but not the sheer horror of some of the stats i have shown, 17 dead on a weekend? That's not right, something needs to change.

It’s also important to realise the rate is not exponentially increasing. One is too many of course.
There were more murders in the Mid-1990s. The rate fell from the late 90s and has risen again since 2011. 17 dead on a single weekend is bad, but also exceptional.
