I can safely say that I would have agreed with Charlie Kirk on absolutely nothing. I dislike and fear religious fundamentalism whatever the religion. And he was a Christian fundamentalist.

His death is an abhorrent act of absolute depravity. Anyone celebrating it needs a long hard look at their lack of humanity. The reaction to his death from some, falling over themselves to make political capital or to justify their own blinkered view, both on the left and right, is also abhorrent.

If this atmosphere of utter hatred continues, and it starts right at the top in the US and not far from the top here, continues, the world will become an ever more dangerous place. For everyone.

Those in positions of power need to start reining it in. And quickly.

Quite shocked reading the person they have in custody, is 22 years of age, whether it's because I'm old now, I think of that age, as still just a baby really, so many years of his life to live, and now he's going to be locked up for the majority of them, obviously he needs to go to prison, but I can't wrap my head around why anyone would do that.

Except what you mean by cordial, is you wanted people not to challenge you on your assertion that there is some "nuance" to be found in an opinion that it is understandable if people are nervous when black pilots are flying a plane, in case they've been put there by affirmative action. Cordial, to you, is being able to say that freely, without reproach.

It didn't quite work out like that for you though did it. When you made that utterly ridiculous assertion right at the start of this thread, several people called it what it is (a racist trope) and you didn't like that being pointed out to you. If you're the enlightened and non-tribal type you say you are, then surely you reflect on that, realise you've got yourself into a bit of a muddle, admit you might just have got that wrong, and everyone just moves on.

Instead, you've doubled down and gone down some faux-intellectual "I'm operating at a much higher level than the rest of you" cul-de-sac, and quite frankly it is cringeworthy.

Probably he’s going to be sentenced to death. How long it will take to carry it out remains to be seen.
