No. That is cobblers.Except what you mean by cordial, is you wanted people not to challenge you on your assertion that there is some "nuance" to be found in an opinion that it is understandable if people are nervous when black pilots are flying a plane, in case they've been put there by affirmative action. Cordial, to you, is being able to say that freely, without reproach.
It didn't quite work out like that for you though did it. When you made that utterly ridiculous assertion right at the start of this thread, several people called it what it is (a racist trope) and you didn't like that being pointed out to you. If you're the enlightened and non-tribal type you say you are, then surely you reflect on that, realise you've got yourself into a bit of a muddle, admit you might just have got that wrong, and everyone just moves on.
Instead, you've doubled down and gone down some faux-intellectual "I'm operating at a much higher level than the rest of you" cul-de-sac, and quite frankly it is cringeworthy.
That's the long and the short of it.
I explained quite clearly that I saw that as a right wing conspiratorial position in relation to DEI. I am firmly of the view it is not true and said so.
As I keep saying my position is based on trying to understand why he is successful and why he needs to be heard and not shut down.
You are playing the game beautifully you’re offended. In the context of a debate on affirmative action he is doing what many successful populists figures do he is latching on to part truth (affirmative action was a thing in US) and using the part truth to maintain a narrative of woke overreach. The overreach being that woke politics has led to potentially dangerous consequences.
It’s nonsense. I am on your side!!! But the nuance in my point is what I stated there was some truths what he was debating about affirmative action or positive discrimination which I’m sure public sector workers on this thread will understand even if they won’t admit.
I don’t like his politics (in the main), I don’t like this positions but I hate the idea that he should be shouted down even more.
As MrSwerve has suggested (who knows more than I do clearly on his views) just because he has abhorrent views on some things (doesn’t mean I think they should be shut down mind…!) that doesn't mean I should never agree with a word the man said or have respect for his bravery in going into the lions den as I said.
I’m not going into this anymore as I’m just repeating myself. If you want to continue to simply speak of tropes use out of context quotes then I can’t truly discuss this with you.
