To digress a bit, it’s interesting to see that JD Vance seems to be getting more and more exposure. I wonder how much longer Trump has got?

I’m not sure he’ll be any improvement on the current incumbent. I’d wager he’d be worse.

Agree completely. The UK needs to realise that the US doesn’t really give a toss about anyone but themselves. Simplistic I know because they are split down the middle but even Obama was more focussed on China and the Pacific. Europe needs to get it’s act together. There are encouraging signs despite the likes of Orban.

They’ll be around soon to tell us how much cleverer they are than us and how we just simply don’t understand. I personally am in awe of how much they pander to the very people they profess to dislike so much.

There's an aspect of this Kirk saga that bothers me and in fact a caller into James OBrien on LBC made a similar point; the caller is an American now living in Brighton.

His point was that Kirk was little more than a wordsmith, skilled in the art of debate and knowledgeable on many subjects. In these days of "pay per click" social media, I can almost imagine him saying "you know what, the more sh*t I post, the more clicks I get and the richer I become!". No wonder he was such a defender of "free speech". I put Andrew Tate in the same category along with the so-called "shock jocks". In years gone by, there were several US TV evangelists fleecing the dumb.

I am surprised this has become such a big story over here. I had never heard of Kirk and it does not seem like he was particularly notable, other than his death. I saw that the BBC news devoted three straight hours to it today, as if it was an ongoing natural disaster or emergency somewhere domestically.

Not saying they should not cover the story. It is of course newsworthy. But it does seem like they are giving it more coverage just because it is a splashy story.

The ones on the Left do not make much sense, do not think deep, cannot debate well, and comes across a bit silly and Loony!
The ones on the Right are opposite and say right things, common sense, rational things.

Maybe one day there can be a civilised debate without the never ending group think that pigeon holes and prevents interesting conversations.
