• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Completely changing our style was an absolute disaster

Being pedantic, the Yanks had nothing to do with coming away from the formula that had made us successful.

That one was a joint enterprise between Huw Jenkins and Garry Monk.

Jenkins for becoming obsessed with the idea of needing a Plan B (we didn't)

Monk for being the opportunist he is/was and telling Jenkins he was spot on, and that he was the only man who could be trusted to deliver it for him.

The Yanks simply compounded the mess when they got here two years later.

In fact I would argue that they have tried to move us back in the right direction with Potter and Martin (they fell for the PR bullshit - so did I). Cooper promised to play good football on powerpoint (Curt and Leon were fooled) and then didn't. So who knows what Duffer promised. Clement was understandable (nobody knew what he would do). So that leaves Bradley, and Carvahal (who would have saved us if he didn't shit the bed). So that leaves Bradley...

(oh, Guido. Not a yankee pick but was getting us to look decent until Ayew Mk 1 was on his bike and Yankee wanted Yankee South West Wales FC.)

Monk was the architect of our downfall 100%. Drove out anything good and replaced it with meat and two veg.

We did need a plan B but that idiot Monk threw away our plan A to play turgid boring football

No, we didn't need a Plan B.

Plan A was working just fine. We were winning at least 12 games a season and picking up a handful of draws on top, aka guaranteed safety every season.

The real problem was similar to what is happening to the club now - Huw started listening and giving credence to the views of a small minority for whom mid table safety was never going to be enough.

He Charlton'd it, basically. He got cocky, he got greedy. Instead of quietly building on the great work that had been done to to that point, he wanted to go to the next level in double quick time with a "Plan B". Was always destined to fail.
