Just my thoughts:-

Once Steven Benda is back fit he should be put back in goal and maybe we should make a bid for Barnsley's Harry Isted as a challenger for the goalkeeper jersey.
We could also make a bid for Barnsley's Liam Kitchen then if need be we could throw the kitchen sink at our opponents.

I'd be quite happy going into next season with the two we've got.

Managed ten games unbeaten with Fisher between the sticks and with Benda back to full fitness I wouldn't see GK as anything like an area in need of strengthening. Much more important to use our available resources to address the lack of pace and width in the squad.

Fisher is absolutely dreadful,I wouldn't be happy with him any where near a set of goal posts next season, definitely need replacing with better.

The Fish could be a completely different proposition with a different coach who doesn’t expect him to be fucking Ederson every game.

I think Fisher may deserve another chance.
He has only played first team league football under Martin.
Possibly if Duff can get him to play as a keeper first and play with his feet secondly we may see something better from him.

Is the obvious and common sense answer. Fisher looked terrible in Martin's system. He looked OK when we jettisoned it. Not great, but not terrible either.

Benda is the obvious #1. We don't really need to be spending any of our limited resources adding another keeper.

He's a crap keeper, anyone who says he's ok didn't watch that 1 win in 20 against 11 men run, aerial duels he's not even park level

Fisher strikes me as a keeper who struggles with the fundamentals of goalkeeping because he has been raised for four years on Martinball where he is expected to be the lovechild of Ederson and Alison without the talent to back up such a radical reimagining of the goalkeeping position.

Can a less radical coaching approach turn him into a respectable goalkeeper?

It depends, he has always been weak at shot stopping and decision making for when to come for the ball in the air and when not to. Those were elements that Benda was strong in before Martin's arrival and his impressive way of transforming a league one team of the year goalkeeper into a nervous wreck shot of confidence in just four months prompting him to waste our January budget on Fisher.

I think the fact that he couldn't play out from the penalty area in Martin's poundshop Man City system is a red herring.
For my money, he makes too many basic errors under pressure, has no presence in the area and is too often rooted to his line when he should come for the ball. I would be very unhappy if we start the season with him in goal

Agree that our money needs spending on some pace and width; but I will never be comfortable with Fisher Price in goal. Martin's system would expose many a keeper, but there were far too many occasions that aside where he was playing with quavers for gloves.

Thank you for all your replies.

Since we have been at the liberty we have had some quality goalkeepers who must have given real confidence to the our teams at the time.
Of course we had more money to spend on players during premier days. But now I think our 1st priority is to invest in a quality goalkeeper with whatever funds maybe available. I know if I was playing and had a quality keeper behind me it would make me and the rest of the team a lot more confident.
