Best example to give would be to take you back to a time when you had a prominent position at the Trust.

If tensions were already high between fans and Trust and then someone comes along and said “Phil doesn’t do any work, never shows up to meetings, it’s stopping the Trust doing their work and stopping it from being effective”.

You and those around you would know that was completely false and you would rightly be a bit miffed that it could worsen feeling towards fan and Trust. It would have the potential to be extremely damaging.

This is no different in my view, so put yourself in their shoes is what I would say because it certainly has potential to be damaging for those involved in the lies.

I’m offended as it affects my club.

If someone is spreading harmful rumours about the functionality of the club in order to cause disharmony between fan and boardroom then I’ll be speaking up about it as every fan should.

You only have to look at the thread it was spread on to see how annoyed people became at the thought of us missing out on targets due to negligence.

The fact it was false is horrendous for someone who claims to support us. But hey, maybe I have higher standards of what is acceptable.

Those kind of debates are happening on message boards, social media, in stadiums and pubs for sporting teams around the world. Somehow clubs seem to manage to survive despite it.

Personally, it sounds less like you have higher standards and more like you have an agenda.

They are debates, opposing views being thrashed out. No issue in that.

What I am talking about is intentional falsehoods being spread. Quite the difference.

My agenda is for people to debate and discuss without making up damaging lies about people. Guilty.
