I am not a Grimes hater and feel he has some unfair stick from some fans, but he had a stinker today. He looks tired and lacks confidence to play the ball forward, Downes now looks the best player to push us forward from midfield with Grimes looking like a far more negative player, happier amongst the half backs.

Hopefully next season he gets his Mojo back.

I laughed at that. They were good balls across the six yard box to be fair, but clearly weren't expected by our players, as they were all standing deeper. If the players don't think that's where you're putting the ball, then it doesn't really matter how good a cross it is.

He's far from a hopeless player. He is capable of playing some decent stuff sometimes, but for the life of me I can't understand why he has been deemed so undroppable for so long. No doubt his stats are fantastic, but after watching him ignore several attacking pass options before eventually playing it slightly forward (which will no doubt go down as an attacking pass in the final third and keep the stats wonks happy) I can't help but think we can do better.

How frustrated must Obafemi be, he had countless opportunities to be played in today after making good runs into space and instead we decided to play it sideways and backwards including at 2 or 3 opportunities by Grimes. It almost seems drilled into him , as soon as he receives the ball it's either sideways or backwards.

The recent Coventry game was a perfect example. A lovely through pass to Obafemi who tucked it away with ease. Grimes can do it, so why does it happen so rarely?

Downes? Ha. Duck out of water further forward sadly. I wish he wouldn't just ship the ball to Grimes so much. We had a better attacking balance when Fulton played as we had another central option playing forward passes.

Awful rick for the goal and not his best today. He did put in a couple of lovely crosses in the last 10 though.

His free kick to Cabango was excellent and should have been a goal.

He’s a decent player, and has some very good games but we should at least try different options to see if it helps us click. A lot of times he really does my swede in by refusing clear attacking options. He always looks so chuffed with himself when he smacks a 30 yard pass backwards with no opposition player anywhere near him and loses any momentum we have built.

It's all in his head. Technically, I think he's a very good footballer if rather one footed but the difference between being positive or negative is completely in the head. MoTD did a little focus on Elneny of Arsenal last night highlighting how he immediately looks to play the ball forwards as soon as he receives it. That's what's in his head and it's the difference between playing in the Prem or the
Championship.
