If Cooper leaves...Who takes over?

If they are willing to spend some of the Cooper comp then :

1. Ian Evatt
2. Appleton
3. Russel Martin

Playing style takes priority but all 3 have tangible success in management already too.

On a serious note, the sooner he leaves our club the better. We won't get that lucky again with him. Take away our excellent start and our form was patchy at best. I still can't grasp how we didn't have one single shot on target in 90 minutes. Was Ayew even playing😢

Cooper is a fraud who convinced himself and others that we could play a season without an out an out striker, so I’m not at all surprised we didn’t have a shot at goal especially with Cullen on the bench. Changing our formation from 3 at the back was a mistake too.

Would agree with the bit about not having a recognised striker. However for me the 3 at the back worked well initially but became very obvious around Xmas time (I think?) that teams had figured out how to play against it and shut us down. Should have moved to a different formation far earlier.

The team has been built to be reactive, slow and formulaic like many of the others, not proactive, ballsy and creative like a brentford.

Always remember the likes of Martinez, Rogers and Laudrup talking about taking risks and showing confidence. We are the opposite now. Scared.

Sky bet have suspended betting on Cooper becoming the next Palace manager.

He’s still 7/1 on Sky Bet I just went on and looked.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with Angel as his assistant.

That's weird. It was showing betting suspended 5 mins ago.

Must have had a flurry of bets due to some ITK accounts on Twitter saying he’s in talks.

That happens a lot in managerial betting, likely means someone has had a decent sized punt at a guess

Oscar Garcia
Gus Poyet
C Toshack

Mark Van Bommel

But it’ll be Wagner.

"There were reports in yesterday’s papers that the compensation claim for Cooper would be as high as £4.5m. As with most things written by Alan Nixon that comes with some poetic licence although there will of course be compensation for a management team under contract. That isn’t news, that is just a business practice."

It will be someone who is happy to work with and develop young players (kids), get the best out of rough diamonds and rejects because that’s pretty much going to be what the budget will allow for. As much as he’s a club legend, I wouldn’t give it to Rangel as he has no experience that I am aware of, nor would I give it to Lampard - I’d like to see him get more managerial experience first. I wouldn’t give responsibility for running the playing side of a multi million pound organisation to a new manager.

At the start of the season I thought the Swans would be mid table. Cooper has brought a few young players in, but to my mind there have been a few weaknesses in the squad and I think Cooper has been pragmatic and tried to get a tune out of the team.

Quite a few names on the list are used to working with bigger budgets that the Swans have, so I’d discount them. Toshack maybe, with an experienced number 2?

Any reason why most people seem to object to David Wagner?

If memory serves me correctly, he got Huddersfield promoted playing attacking attractive football on a smaller budget than us. He survived a season in the Prem before the almost inevitable happens when you're working under those financial constraints.

I think, maybe just for nostalgia, id prefer Rangel, but wouldn't be averse to Wagner.
