• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Gareth Vincent reporting the club is looking for a loan from the Premier League to replace Grimes till the end of the season:

The Sky Blues move came as a surprise to Swansea who, as a result, believe the loan market is their only option to replace Grimes during this window.

They are looking at options in the top flight, with the removal of Grimes' salary from the wage bill – he was Swansea's top earner – meaning they have the option of moving for a more established Premier League player rather than an inexperienced youngster.

Lewis O Brien is a player I’d be looking at coming in now.

Probably a little annoyance given they gave him a decent contract and he made out that he was all Swansea.

Club come calling with a concrete offer of more money and he was off as quick as anything.

If there's any truth in this, it represents p*ss poor planning, and the exact opposite of the months and months of careful scouting and evaluation we keep hearing about.
Last minute panicking, more like.
It's not rocket science to have lists of targets based on the circumstances. So if Grimes wasn't leaving and we needed another midfielder, here's a list of players we've scouted and believe we have a chance of signing at a price and wages we can afford.

Then we have another list that says if we sold Grimes for around £4m and get his wages off the books, here's another list of players we could sign in central midfield with the extra budget we now have available.

I know nothing about how football clubs run and how transfers work, but I'd be worried if a club in the second tier of British football didn't have something so basic in place within their scouting department. Then again, Man United said they looked at 804 right-backs in depth before deciding Wan-Bissaka was the answer at £50m...

Are you "guys" seriously buying in bulk 'cos it works out cheaper that way?

Very, very respectfully,

All I can see from this is that we sent a couple of scouts to watch this guy play, no more. I'd file this one as just ongoing scouting/player monitoring rather than it being a move we're considering this window.

Maybe I jumped the gun dismissing this as a January prospect. Hopefully we've been tracking him for while and it's not a 'find me a midfielder with a pulse, now!' panic signing.
Hopefully he’s got something about him he’s their captain with a few months left on his deal, 6ft3.
