Kevin Johns

I find it astonishing the lead investigator didn’t watch the full police interview which was only 92 minutes long.

What follows is an excerpt from Wales Online:

Defence barrister claims 'fundamental failings permeated the investigation'

Mr Roberts says there were “failings” in the police investigation into the allegations from the very beginning with the officer who questioned Johns after his arrest not even having watched the full interview with the alleged victim.

The barrister tells the jury that after they watched the complainant’s videoed interview at the start of the trial “you knew more about the case than the officer did when he interviewed the defendant”. He says the full video was only 92 minutes long yet the officer did not watch it. He says that is a “disservice to the prosecution and a disservice to the defence”.

He says “fundamental failings permeated the investigation” and the police probe only went in one direction and there was never any attempt to find or consider other evidence.

What was the score amongst the jury in the end, was it a unanimous decision or a majority decision ?
