• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

I’m your previous post, you wrote “I can't think of any situation in all of history where a side slaughtering and kidnapping civilians and using them as hostages was seen by history as having done the right thing”

Which is complete and utter fucking nonsense. It is something which Darran would peddle after seeing some swivel eyed right wing morons tweet.
Give me an example then of a time in history when a side was justified in attacking, raping, slaughtering and kidnapping innocent civilians to use as hostages.

No part of that statement is complete and utter fucking nonsense. If you believe that such a thing can ever be justified then you need to take a look at yourself

Nobody apart from extremists and fruitcakes think that ffs. As I said, stick to football because you’re making a right prick of yourself peddling shite like that.

I might be blunt about it and am stating the obvious, but it doesn't make me a prick to say so.
Anyway this has diverged far from being football related now and I have said my piece.

It was nothing to do with being blunt, but your suggestion was that ‘people’ were saying that what Hamas done was the right thing.

At no point did I say that anyone here was taking Hamas's side

My point (which you have conveniently overlooked) was that neither side is innocent in all of this, you took one thing I said and misinterpreted it and jumped on it saying that I was making a right prick of myself

I don't respond well to personal attacks

I was going to apologise for misinterpreting your post, but after going back over it I won’t be. You are making a big play about what Hamas done without criticising what the Israelis are currently doing, other than a mealy mouthed ‘both sides are wrong’.

We can all acknowledge what they done in the October attack was absolutely horrific, and some of us can also be critical of what the Israelis have done since and continue to do so to this day.

In my reply to Darran immediately after replying to you I did criticise the Israelis too.
Again you are taking what I said out of context assuming that what I said to you was all I had to say

But just in case it needs to be made unequivocally clear - I do absolutely condemn and criticise Israel too for what can only be seen as war crimes. The systematic bombing, starving and killing of (so far) over 53,000 people - with the vast majority of that civilians at that - can surely only be viewed as ethnic cleansing and genocide.

No it’s not it’s horrific and both sides should be called for the scum they are and there’s far too many people one sided.
I said this early on when people were taking sides - why does there have to be a right and a wrong? Why can’t they both be wrong? I’m not on fence here though and what Israel have done in retaliation for Hammas’s mass murder, which itself can be seen as retaliation, is despicable. People are afraid to criticise Israel but the project’ there id horrific. Who gets to claim the real estate though goes back more than just a couple of world wars.

Both sides have lost any moral high ground that they had
Especially since the Hamas attack at the music festival

I can't think of any situation in all of history where a side slaughtering and kidnapping civilians and using them as hostages was seen by history as having done the right thing

I know you've clarified your view since this post, but I would be interested to know who out there is describing the terrorist attacks by Hamas as justified? Once you discount the far-right anti-Semitic fruitcakes of course.

Also, Israel showed in the aftermath of those horrific events that they had other options for going after Hamas. That phone exploding stuff for one, incredible stuff. The wholesale slaughter of Palestinians seems to me to be more about eradicating Palestine and taking control of the whole of the Gaza strip by any means necessary.

Just reminded myself of the sort of stuff that Andrew Neil has said and done over the years. Lineker's transgressions are trivial in comparison. How on Earth the BBC could employ someone as a political commentator with such extreme right wing views is breathtaking hypocrisy of the first order. Check out Neil's Wikipedia entry.

Its a thorny subject and has been so realistically speaking for the past 80 years or so now ever since the end of WW2 and even before that.

I won't insult people's intelligence by trying to give a history lesson, anyone who actually cares about the subject can find enough reading material to last a month with just a quick google search for them to educate themselves.

As for what kind of people actively support one side only over the other?
I can only guess, but mostly it would probably be those who have some kind of investment in the situation - be that financial, religious, political or familial. Either that or people who just don't know the full story or all the facts.
