Local Sport.

It’s very sad.

You can’t beat playing competitively. I miss those days.

Play as long as you possibly can.

More interested in their bloody phones. It should be big news this. So important for mental and physical health.

Except as pointed out earlier in this thread, participation in youth sports seems to be thriving, it's when people become adults that it drops off. Technology has obviously changed vastly over time and of course parents should consider how to handle screen time, but this idea that kids are all stuck in all day in front of screens is something older people have concocted in their heads.

Back in the day and during late spring/early autumn we would try and cram Carmarthenshire League, local rugby and local cricket league all into one day. The youth of today don’t have the same options, and perhaps the same outlook.

30 years ago, the Swansea Senior League was the second-biggest local league in the United Kingdom. To see how it's been decimated to what it is now is heartbreaking.

During the football season I'd play Saturday and Sunday, train Monday and Thursday, and five-a-side was Wednesday. Summertime cricket would be Saturday and Sunday, then industrial league during the week. Best time of my life.
