Notts fan in peace.

Happy to answer any questions about LW and RH.

Obviously a bit gutted but happy for them. They deserve a shot higher up the leagues and he leaves us in a far better place than when he arrived.

Outside of on the pitch stuff he is the best manager / head coach we have ever had for 'getting' the fans and the relationship he has with them and the one he cultivates between players and fans is unbearable.

One story I always tell about him re fans..

We lost at home a couple of months back, after the game I was in no rush so hung about and watched LW do his media duties then there was a few kids waiting for pics which he obliged. When it came to the last two kids one of them (must have been about 7) burst into tears, he hugged him and told him not to cry then grabbed him and his mate and took them down the tunnel to meet the players. Just a little thing but shows the sort of man he is especially when we had just lost and I'm sure he probably wanted to sit in his office and have a beer.

When we won promotion the players stayed down south that night and the next day they arrived back to Notts fans, not only did he do the usual photos etc he invited everyone to come to the pub and celebrate with them all. This turned into an all day and night affair. I saw them at about midnight, in a bar still chatting away to young lads who were all a bit drunk and wanting to chew his ear off but he didn't mind - he spent all evening chatting to every single fan that wanted to speak to him.

I know especially for the young lads that follow us that is a night they will never forget.

Thanks for the post mate.

Is there much penetration in his football? One of the accusations levelled at Martin was "possession for possession's sake". Does he encourage the players to take risks with the ball (most of the risk we took under Martin were in our own third!).

For what it's worth, most of us feel your pain in losing a manager you love so much as it has happened to us so often over the years. If anything, take it as a compliment - nobody ever wanted our managers or players when we were crap but as soon as we started improving, we started losing them hand over fist!

It appears to me that Notts County are a club going places again with a good structure within the club. I fully expect you'll go from strength to strength even without Williams. Given the trajectory of both clubs, I expect we'll be playing each other in the league before too very long.

I would say in terms of penentration we are a lot more forward moving than our previous manager - Burchnall where I felt we didn't get enough balls into dangerous areas.

When we lost badly the other week and played the worst I've seen us play it was one of the things LW criticised about the way we played that day - that we didn't take risks and weren't brave with the ball instead going for the easy pass back too much, other teams fans would say we pass it back to the keeper a lot but our keeper is usually stood outside his box and it tends to only go back once other options havent come off.

We do tend to swing a lot of balls in from the wing and out wing back has the most assists in the league, at the same time we never lump it forward even in the final 5 mins in the play offs when we were losing and you could feel fans wanted us to just lump it in we were patient and waited for the ball which led to our equaliser

If it's him then first league game will be Birmingham away.

Then Southampton first home game 🤔

Then games against

Leicester
Plymouth
Hull
Leeds
Ipswich
Sunderland

Maybe he should wait till March 😏

Young players being brave on the ball...... Where have we heard that before? Ah yeah from chinwig.....I hope to God Williams doesn't talk as much shit as Russell did.

That's the spirit! :D

I think we should certainly prepare ourselves for a version of football similar to Martinball. LW is his own man of course, and was a coach and a manager before RM, but I think it's clear they share a similar view as to how the game is played. I just hope the differences between them are positive ones for us.

No pre judgement or negativity here, just wanna say good luck Mr. Williams, we need some positivity now.
Just spare us the bullshit if possible, we've all had a titfull of it.

I hope he's amazing but I can't help the feeling that's it's a lazy, cheap and uninspiring signing tbh. Let's not forget this was a guy that couldn't wait to get out of Swansea last time he was here. And wussball sucked shit.

Just cast yourselves back to that first game under Martin, Blackburn home was it? We're likely to have a few performances like that over then next month or two, suicide football at the back with Rushworth on the ball quite a lot.

He was here for that so hopefully we can skip a few steps this time. Shouldn't be arriving with a blank sheet of paper after six months working with many of our players.

First we sent them Tank and the boys, then we poach their manager. Warra bunch of bounders!

Put it like this, he will have kept a close eye on us for 30 days......well, he would have since Davies was told that he wouldn't be allowed to come to Swansea 😉

Swansea very nearly there, but still waiting on a couple of formalities to be completed.

Won't be confirmed until the morning now. Suspect we all knew that already, mind.

Hope is Williams will take training tomorrow before facing press in the afternoon
