And he has young children who are living in Brighton. There are sacrifices he's making.

I have no idea why people pay any attention to anything any player or manager says in the press. Its nonsense most of the time.

Oh give over ffs!
He'll be on a six figure salary if he moves his family to SA1, I'm sure his kids could cope with an apartment in the marina and having the Gower Coast on tap!
Fù k sake get real 🙄

I’m not expecting him to, but if he isn’t 100% convinced then stay where you are. It’s not a normal thing to say to a journalist about a club you’re allegedly joining, questions like that are easily deflected.

A poster on other forum also allegedly has a mutual friend with him and actually spoken to him, he said he had no interest at all in coming to us. That though, is just a rumour as I have no idea how reliable guy is who said it.

Presumably the first and second offers differed in terms of what we offered… maybe the third was enough to snare him.

Assuming that’s even true… Would you tell all your friends if you were him? Especially if you thought it would be all over social media immediately after?

No I wouldn’t say anything and when asked in press I think I’d just say what everyone else does, and say “if anything official happens you’ll know, but until I’m told otherwise I’ll be doing my job” or something like that.

I just think telling the local paper you’ve been turning us down left right and centre but now you feel obliged to atleast have a chat I find quite disrespectful, but maybe I’m too easily offended.

Yeah because they won’t be at all concerned with seeing their friends, grandparents etc on a regular basis if he moves them too or barely seeing their dad if they stay there?

He’s been a professional footballer for half his life earning good money. Not like they’re on the bones of their arses and about to hit the jackpot

Yeah. It seems like you might be.

Let’s see what happens. If he comes here it’ll be because he wants to be here

Well he hasn’t got much of a choice now his fans have just called him a “paedo”. He’s here for sure now.

I hope he’s as good as he thinks he is.

Good enough to custard pie a championship play off finalist team twice after having a mid 30’s % win rate in your career to date at a lower level.

We could go on and on, I haven’t liked his comments, I’ll stand by that, he’ll be judged on how he does here now though if it does happen, which looks likely.

From what I heard we approached his agent through a 3rd party with an idea of would he be open to the job, which he said yes to
We then contacted him again and more details were talked about, again 3rd party
These are the 2 unoffical talks that happened, he never rejected us either time as the club wouldve moved on with other targets
We had an interview with Morris yesterday, which afterwards we decided Martin was our guy, for what reason I dont know
But from what I was told and what happened yesterday was correct, Morris was our intention and Martin was 2nd choice and we'd find out today, we found out late last night so
As Phil said we're a tiny city, news travels fast and I would assume we know more than MK way
I believe Martin did make those comments, but hes under pressure and thats a good answer to save face
Either way hes coming

Jaxs has got a thing about sportspeople and what they earn, they should put up with just about anything for the money apparently. He says the same in the thread about the Ashes and I'm sure he's said similar in other threads. Which is fair enough, but I don't think everyone feels the way he does.

Personally, if I had a job offer based 4 hours away from my current home and it meant uprooting my family who don't want to move, or moving away from them and only seeing them now and again, then I'd probably turn it down even if it was 3 or 4 times what I'm earning now. Money's not everything to me, but them I'm lucky enough to be doing alright and understand others may feel different.

Do you reckon he's been given assurances, as some have suggested, that we will be able to spend a little on transfers?

From what Ive heard theres a small amount of money and some of the grimes transfer kitty, and that we're only selling Grimes as hes reluctant to sign a new deal, Phil probably knows more than me
But its untrue to say we have no money, the manager situation has been the main reason for our lack of transfers

Are you suggesting he should have just been grateful that we’d asked him and said yes irrespective of what was on the table?
