• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

If he comes here the knives will be out for him straight away, his cards have been marked by some now.

Once people paint themselves into a corner, they won't ever come out of it. See it time and time again with players and managers.

I think it is fair to assume that if the journalist reports that one - given who he is and what he has said - it is probably right

The interesting part for me would be whatever we have changed to make us a "no go" to being "almost certain"

I would also go with the journalist last night who stated the three year contract was agreed in principle

I would completely disagree with any reports of salaries that have been banded around for almost everyone we have been interested in 😁

Doesn’t sit right with me personally Phil, but maybe I’m too easilly offended.

You either want to be here or you don’t. I know where we are in the food chain, I get that, but at same time I’m not having we are low enough for a guy whose best achievement is finishing bottom half league 1 telling the press he needs to speak to us as we are persistent

I see where you are coming from but at the same time for me the fact he wanted to speak in the first place shows there was an interest. It's just discussion from there to be honest in my view - chats around who he may want in his backroom team, playing budgets etc

This one has played out probably more publicly than most deals of this nature but that is largely caused by the fact that we seem to have asked Cooper to stay on for two weeks to facilitate his replacement but then let Cooper go without having completed that facilitation. Whether that was down to the fact that the news leaked about Cooper we will never know (Swansea is still the smallest place in the world!)

Witnesses are completely different to "sources".. you're all in, hook, line and sinker

But he wasn't quoting sources. He is a journalist who is in contact with Martin and quoted him.

So we approached them unofficially then.. makes sense, "taps nose"

Everyone saying that the local journo has got a direct quote from Martin. If a journalist has a direct quote, they tend to use quotation marks and write exactly what has been said. So it's not a quote at all and gives the journo some wiggle room if Martin subsequently says that the tweet is bullshit.

Normally no, I backed potter 100% even when things were going south in our play off charge.

This guy, with those comments though, needs to be as good as he thinks he is now though. Personal opinion.

What was my initial statement I’ve back tracked on out of curiosity?

Told him he rejected us twice, it’s pretty clear really, nothing to be twisted as far as I can see.

Don't mate, they're at the "pleb" level, all entertaining though

Burn him!
Burn him!
Why?
Well my mates, mother's, aunties uncle heard a rumour that he turned us down, we also approached Martin without contacting the club first
Burn him!

You need to rewrite it, if you're able to spot it though, doubt it mind

I have no view on Martin either way. Hell I'd have considered a season under Daffy Duck instead of Cooper this year. I'm just pointing out that you are clearly wrong on this one.

But you're probably a daily mail reader

It’s safe to assume he doesn’t read the MK Citizen

Because he hasn't quoted him, so it's easy for both of them to claim the journo misheard or some other bollocks. If he had a direct quote (usually backed up by an audio recording), he'd have directly quoted him. Instead, he wrote what he did and gets to look ITK on Twitter.

Yeah I'm a right wing nut job, dwelling in your own personal psyche, because I'm a bit partial to not believing a "rumour" that's all it is
