Russell Martin believed that the loss of Joel Latibeaudiere to injury in the final day loss to QPR was pivotal, meaning Flynn Downes had to fill in as a make shift right sided centre half. Latibeaudiere was forced off midway through the second half after Martin had already made two substitutions with...

Bennett I get, Burns and Ogbeta leaves me scratching my head. Not for the first time I’m at the point of thinking that Martin is too stubborn for his own good. This isn’t a good trait for a guy at this stage of his managerial career.

I'm sure it's coincidence that Bennett has played 49 times for us.

Lol.

Funnily enough, you’re the second person I’ve heard say that this week. I hadn’t realised.

Talk about players that need to be shipped out sharpish. One of the top earners as well.

All I know is that we have loaned highly rated centre halves from both Liverpool and Man City this season and both of them have been sent back underutilised and probably now low in confidence having not been able to get into a team that has shipped a phenomenal amount of goals this season.

If I was a top side I would think long and hard about loaning players to RM at the moment.

Actions like that certainly don't bode well for agreeing such terms with players in future. Word gets around very quickly in this business, I'm sure.

It’s almost as if our formation and way of playing is unusual.

It’s why I’m a little perplexed at the academy and all teams below the first team being forced into the same way of playing. Surely that limits the opportunities to maximise our completely unique ‘player trading model’.

I have absolutely nothing against having a unique way of playing - but if we are loaning players and they then only make a handful of appearances then clearly we haven’t scouted what we wanted. Under Cooper one thing he was excellent at was developing a reputation of loaning and significantly improving youngsters who then had massive resale value.

Teams wanted to loan us players because we would improve them.

He talks in that interview like it's the first time we've fannied around knocking it back to Fish and Nauts etc and he can't understand why we were doing it FME where has he been all season

Aye. Unlikely I fear. We'll be taking a hit on that if we manage to get him off our books I reckon.

For his style of play to work, we need

Players who are comfortable on the ball
Some pace/tempo in our play.
Total teamwork (support and give options to players)

And he wonders why we haven't progressed.

He's either blind to his failings, or 100% believes that he can coach into players that haven't got the basic requirement to play his style.

Just watched his post match... A load of old waffle again, he don't half talk a load of tripe. Basically get ready for the fire sale replace with a load of league 1 hopefuls.

Our defensive set up is a complete shambles at the moment.

“A lot comes into that, I think a few players were in self-preservation mode and a few who are maybe unsure of their futures here.

I'm a firm believer in keeping things "in house" rather than finger pointing to the press.
Shows a lack of loyalty, shows a degree of desperation.

Time for Martin to put up or shut up next season, whatever hand he is dealt regarding player sales/ recruitment.
The clock is most definitely ticking amongst the Jack faithful.

Not the first time either, he's not even consistent as he also says he's proud of the players and all are training well and a ready to step into the team when needed.
