I must admit it did strike me as a bit odd when I read the article a little earlier.

Also find it odd how much influence at the club Grimes seems to have.

For a manager to admit to not entering the dressing room before or at half time is very concerning, probably the first time I've heard of this, even at Sunday league level...

Let's just face facts; Grimes will be captain and ever-present in the team until he retires in about 10 years time. Then he'll transition to management and be our manager for the following 30 years. They probably talked all week about how they want to approach the game and Williams likely discussed with Grimes and the team they they will stick to the plan and he him giving the pre match and half time talk might go off script.

Manager comes out to publicly state he wasn't involved in either the pre or halt time team talks and fans discuss on a forum.

He clearly hasn’t lost the players and all the details will have been discussed with Grimes. It’s just an attempt to freshen things up and give it a kickstart. I can’t imagine Russel Martin being so humble and self-aware. Williams just up a little bit in my estimation, just a tiny bit mind.
