A structure would be a club pays a set amount at set intervals no matter of what happens following the transfer.

A clause (the one you are referring to) would be when a club pays extra in future but only when certain agreed milestones are achieved.

Depends on what the clauses are as I explained previously. I don't see Celtic or anyone else realistically agreeing to a clause for a milestones that'll never probably be met.

No that’s amortisation. A structure is how the total fee is reached, appearances, goals, promotion bonus etc etc

The clause that may never be met would be an added bonus, not part of the guaranteed fee. If Celtic only paid a £2 million guaranteed fee wi eh the rest on clauses that weren’t hit, then why wouldn’t they accept a £2 million fee with a chance to triple it up to £6 million based on a clause?

You ignore transfer fees altogether though apparently!

I ignore other peoples guesses of transfer fees yes, because headline figures are notoriously inaccurate and don’t take into consideration actual cost to club.

I base my judgement on the player on the criteria I set out. Does he help us remain a mid table champ side? does he show he can take us further? does he make us worse than a mid table champ side?

Yes I know thats what you claim to do, even though like the Bony example its a ridiculous stance because transfer fees can and should alter the assessment of a signing because it can have a profound affect on the club.

And you delude yourself too - when a player isn't performing you ignore your criteria and say its too early.

But you don’t know the transfer fees?

I haven’t ignored it, I just told you Benson was a poor one. The rest are either back ups, contributing to making us a mid table championship side or showing potential to kick us on (or injured and impossible to tell yet).

95%+ of people on here don’t know the transfer fees let alone the structure of a deal, and many reports in the media or online are being pushed by one party or the other.

However, it’s also naive to suggest that clubs, agents and players don’t know details of other transfers. Like most businesses, if you’re working in it you can make a pretty good educated guess on the majority of transfers/salaries without actually having been sat in the room.

I've told you repeatedly how I and the vast majority of football fans generally form an opinion of what a club has paid for a player. Its a regular topic of conversation with every single football fan I know. There are many ways how this opinion/ guess / assessment is formed.

You're either being deliberately obtuse again or you're a very rare and strange example. But I suspect at some point the mask will slip and you'll be caught out for what you actually are.

Either way, no point continuing to repeat myself.

I’d agree with that, those within the game would have a rough idea of transfer + cost to club. Everyone else is just guessing.

I was told by someone who would know that the Gylfi fee was nowhere near reported, it relied on a lot of things that never happened.

Was still a good fee apparently, but nowhere near reported.

You telling me doesn’t mean it’s right.

What do you think he actually is?
