New Manager

I'll take your word for it, but why is he advocating for a ultra possession coach, when all modern data is pointing towards quick ball outfits and pace.. as everyone has said on here, this swansea way stuff has got to our owners heads
I dont often agree with Skippy, but he has highlighted the very essence of the problem right there in bold. Some one needs to have a word with Colemanballs.
I couldnt give a fk if our tactic consisted of finding out who can kick the ball the furthest, having them stand where Grimes used to mince about between the CBs , give the ball to them at every opportunity and then have them boot the ball as farup the pitch as it can possibly go, and then put three or four giants up the other end of the pitch in a hail mary type scenario. It cant be any worse to watch than the last 3 years.

I see some are falling for it again 🙄 there was no need for his to mention possession, winning is what he needs to talk about. Fuck the Swansea Way, it’s an anchor around the clubs neck.
That's what struck me when I started to read it and then gave up.

Looks like we've been duped again and going down the same road with this sideways and backwards tippy tappy shit.

When will they ever learn.

Well in fairness Duff's appointment was a departure from that with a focus on "results ".
Of course he like his predecessor and successcer came from a lower league but his football style was neither pleasing to the eye or "successful".
As fans we are never happy look at Cooper no league management pedigree at all when he arrived yet got us closer to returning to the PL than any manger since relegation but though he got the results to get us to the playoff final many called his football dull.

This Swansea Way is a millstone

But Cooper played shit football with a team full of absolute ballers.

He put the handbrake on quality players and didn’t really allow them to show their true quality.

The side that Cooper had was piss all over this league now if coached properly

There is hell of a lot of contradictions.
I think fans are happy with high possession as long as it's done with intent and an aim of an end product.
It seems possession football has been put in a folder along with tippy tappy with some posters.

Let's see who we appoint and set our eyes on the style before we start making judgements about the style......styles in word can vary with the product produced on the pitch.

I was reading an article about the team Cooper had with Guehi,Ayew and Cooper and there was a huge question mark on how we didn't get promoted.

That football was as turgid as a shiit after a few days of eating high fat foods.

He's done quite a lot of talking since he has been here.
I’m trying not to get suckered in again but he is saying the right things and we all want him to succeed.
Re the use of data, Kuharevich had practically no footprint in professional football that would warrant a 3 year contract and multi million pound fee. Perhaps he can look into that particular risk event to the business and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Play off semi against Barnsley was absolutely dreadful.
Ayew and Naughton screaming for movement and not getting it. The final was a banker for Brentford.

All I want is to go to games and leave the ground happy not matter if we have won, lost or drawn.

Just want to fall in love with the Swans again. The last few years have been torture.

In fairness it was made worse by having to watch on TV.
But Coopers appointment goes against the arguement of appointing managers from lower leagues as he had no league experience just U17 football albeit at International level yet he got us to the play off semi final and then the final more than any other manager since relegation....yet still supporters weren't happy.
What if he had got us to beat Brentford?

The issue is some fans will be happy if we are winning no matter the style whilst others will cry out for entertainment without resists and other want both.

As you say there is confusion over possession, tippy tappy football and exciting passing winning football.

It is still possible to play out from the back passing the ball in triangles or quick through balls without spending quarter of an hour passing the ball across the back line from full back to full back then back to the keeper rinse repeat.

I've said it since the early Martin days the obsession with possesion without purpose has to end.

I do wonder if some of the dislike for Cooper and his brand of football stemmed from having to watching the majority of it being played in an empty stadiums.

I fell out of love with football in general during covid. I struggle to recall most of it. Couldn't think of anything worse than watching football being played in empty stadiums.

You sure? Look at who we lost to in the final, and tell me our side then was better than theirs for example.

Raya, Dalsgaard, Jansson, Pinnock, Roerslev, Jensen, Janelt, Canos, Marcondes, Toney, Mbeumo.

Woodman, Naughton, Cabango, Guehi, Bidwell, Fulton, Grimes, Hourihane, Ayew, Roberts, Lowe.

Can't compare the two. Too many Swans fans have rose tinted specs when they reminisce about years gone by. Cooper getting to the play-offs twice was a remarkable achievement.

This made me think of my early days watching in the 70s when it was a real love affair. I left happy if we won. That’s it. That must mean I wasn’t happy a lot.

I remember the players but none of the football (I doubt it was ‘possession’ 🤣 although we had possession when we scored I’m sure.)

We are rose tinted about it all too. Quite a lot of the games under Rodgers and Laudrup were awful, and before Martinez got Anderson, a direct pacy goal threat, his gameplan was booed (Brighton home, 0-0 if anyone remembers). Convenient to forget that.

Win, excite, play at pace. In that order. Oh, and shoot you c***s.
