New Manager

Or taking s team from the bottom of the championship to the premier league.
No taking away from that, he done superbly there.
He found his time came to an end there when the fans started to request the shackles come off for a more entertaining team.

As I say, he done superbly there to start the process for Forest.

Grass isn't always greener.

As Martin and Williams have gone on to prove to those requesting the shackles come off.

Fans have short memories. When Cooper left 99% of this forum were happy he was gone.

Like someone said above it was tournament football - low risk, uninspiring and boring. I suppose you could say it was successful to a degree, same as the Paulo Sousa regime but every game was a bore

Forest were very attractive with Spence and Johnson on the right in the championship. That made me more annoyed about the FA robot shape stuff he served up with us. I thought he had players to be different, he clearly didn't. I felt the same about the last two charlatans, and Cooper was better than them by a long way, so maybe he knew best.

The first play offs were totally spawned though. And spawned by the team thinking they had no chance unless they scored a shedload and forgetting caution and shape. Most spawny plY off qualification in history. Loved it.

Totally agree.

Defensively it was a horror show with Martin, we could have done with someone as conservative as Cooper to have sorted that out.
Fine margins sometimes but it's worked out well for Forest.

Cooper was new in club management, he didn't want to take unnecessary risks even with a very decent squad in hand.

It seems to be a split here which heightens the debate in regards his time here.
I certainly see what Cooper brought to the table but do have a sense of what could have been if we had someone with a little bit more intent at the helm instead.
Same can be said for all our managers since relegation mind.

Not so sure it's fine margins with Cooper.

Two top six finishes with us, promotion to the premier league with Forest whilst keeping them up, U17 World Cup and I'm sure Leicester fans would swap him for Van Nistelrooy.

That's a pretty successful career to date.

It's certainly a good debate as shown on here.

He done well given his inexperience and he prefers a fail safe approach that will suit some and not so much others but has a ceiling before more is wanted/required.

He's a steady Eddie, could be argued that is what is needed here presently.

Interesting to read that the players seem to be wanting Sheehan as permanent manager from a few links.

You say fail safe, his records suggest successful. If people want more, they may need a dose of reality.

The players will say whatever is needed to be said. I'm pretty sure 3 weeks ago they were saying positive things about Williams.

If you have a good enough squad then it's achievable for sure, given we had an 80k a week international coupled with players with real calibre then it wasn't a real suprise looking back.
People certainly want to push things aside to suit, it's certainly up for debate if we should have done better especially looking back with a clearer mind and what we had at hand at that time.
Tell me who in our playoff side, was better than Brentford’s for example.

You’re talking nonsense. We are talking actual results and not what could or should have happened. Every club up and down the land can say that.

That’s more success than most professional managers will ever have. Some people, and I’m guilty of it as well, paint themselves into a corner and refuse to back down.

Click this thread hoping that we finally have some rumours about a new manager, and it's still just people arguing about Steve fucking Cooper. Peak.
Healthy debate, keeps the forum ticking over.

Not as if the rumors are swirling with any potential managers spotted outside Rossi's.

We all are.

Some of us know when to hold our hands up and admit we've got things wrong and then you have some who will constantly dig their hole bigger to prove a point.

Absolutely, couldn’t agree more.
