Apparently she’s doing it because of the markets, failing to grasp that she’s tanked the markets.

I would think "Two Soups" would have to lose a vote of confidence in the HOC to precipitate a general election. Rumours are swirling that a number of Tory MPs are in talks with Labour to jump ship. I think we could be pretty close.

They could get rid of her and foist another Tory leader on us. It stretches the constitutional norms to their very limits but they’ll try it. There are enough Tory MPs who know they’d lose their seats to keep this going until the next election has to happen which could be as late as January 2025. There aren’t enough Tory MPs who will put the interests of the country before their own interests or the interests of the Conservative Party. Never has been, never will be.

The only way an election can be forced is if the government loses a confidence vote in the Commons. For the reasons why that ain’t happening, see above.
