He gives the impression that if the team is doing well he'll contribute and get involved. If we are struggling as we are he looks disinterested. Not one for the trenches methinks.

At his best, I still think he's one of the best 3 or 4 players we've got but he prefers to move the ball on quickly and if nobody shows for it, which has definitely been case recently, particularly on Tuesday, he's never going to look any better than the dross around him imo.

He's been wandering around the pitch like someone who can't quite grasp what he's commited himself to. No doubt he's a player who would benefit from a quicker, more mobile style of play, but he's also one of those who we'd depend upon to deliver it.

That post makes no sense, whatsoever.

A player of his pedigree rises above mediocrity and makes stuff happen. As he has, on rare occasion.

It's clearly a mis-management issue. He's so not firing on all cylinders - application, conditioning, motivation.

He needs someone pushing him, like a strong captain. He's more than a little lazy. Shame really, he has the potential to be our best player.

I’d be very surprised if on a cold, rainy, early kick off, Sunday, you’d expect anything different from his indifference in general, which has been the case with his last few games.
He was exactly the same at Celtic.
One minute a class act, the next, let’s just say “He’s being French”
Or as was always quoted in the 5 Nations rugby (not this season though!)….
“Which French side will turn up today?”
Having said that, when we play our walking football, he has no one running off him into space to utilise his obvious talents.

Benched today.

In fairness I thought he brought a bit of composure for us in midfield when he came on today. Was only a 20 minute cameo but I thought he was good for those 20 minutes.

I agree. His fresh legs coupled with his undoubted clever footballing brain, combined as a great option off of the bench.

20 minutes of a good contribution to the team, sounds about par for him.
I wonder if I’ll live long enough, to witness a 90 mins contribution ?
Why do some classy players think they can’t put in a full shift every game?

With his ability he should be contributing more

I don't think we generally move the ball quickly enough to suit him. He seems much more like an all action player than a patient possession one.

I'd never seen him play before he signed for us so I can't decide whether it's our style of play or that's just the way he is.
I just find it frustrating watching him because there's a real player in there & we're not getting the best out of him.

I just think he's one of a number of players we have who would look even more effective if we moved the ball more quickly more often. Wolf is another. Obafemi too.
