I'd be more worried if it was a player who was covering lots of ground in a game, going in for tackles regularly, etc. You always wonder if the threat of injury in a contract year has an effect.

Not really Joel's game though. He's good at putting the ball in the back of the net regularly and should be motivated to do that as much as ever to attract as many potential clubs and big money offers as possible.

Terrible news for us from a financial standpoint though, if it's true.

Always a risk when you do business early as many fans demand. Wouldn't be the first time we've been caught out like that. Everyone's been so sure he's gone without there being a single strong link to a specific club so far. Just vague rumours mostly from our end.

Plenty of time for drama though.

Bitter sweet aye, he gets us 20 goals and into the top 6 it'll be a winner...
*if Carlsburgh did transfer conundrums*

Its a nothing article. Just confirms that we haven’t had an offer matching the asking price, which we already knew.

That could change anytime between now and the deadline.

Don’t see how this is in any way good news . He’s clearly said he isn’t signing a new contract , don’t think we are in a position to let a player this good go for nothing

It isn’t good news. After losing money last year the club need to sell him to bring some cash in and so that new players can be brought in, the prospect of losing a £15m ish player for nowt is bad news. I appreciate he’ll be the focal point of the attack and someone who will hopefully score 20 plus goals, but he’s 1 part of a team and if the team is struggling or mid table at best and finishes there it wouldn’t matter if he got 40 goals because the goal has to be he getting the team in to the Premier League.

If there’s no sign of him going, I’d suggest the club tries a similar approach to what happened with Brendon when he signed a new contract before going to Liverpool. Give Piroe a massive lump sum payment to sign the new contract, but add a release clause and agreement that he will be sold on once the mutually agreed figure has been triggered.

It’s not good or bad news, it’s no news.

If we get a decent offer for him then he will go, if we don’t then he won’t. That’s just the obvious situation we face with every player.

But logic tells us that a club will almost certainly come in for a prolific striker now rather than risk losing him to the free market, especially clubs with money specifically earmarked for that position.

He will go.

I’m shocked not many clubs seem to want to risk 12-15M on Piroe especially with his goal scoring record the past 2 seasons.

I'm surprised nobody has come in, he's an expert marksman, real top quality finisher with both feet, but you've got to admit he isn't a runner or physical CF.. maybe that's why clubs are put off

He looks to me to be one of those strikers that often seem to score tonnes at championship level but haven’t got the attributes in terms of speed of physicality to cut it in the Prem… I could be wrong tho… I’d like to see him have a go.

This situation is heading where we suspected. Clubs know we have to sell in the next 30 odd days . No club is showing thier bidding hand yet. If Leicester Soton or Leeds or may other clubs sign strikers in the near future we might get a clearer picture.

I still fear a late cheap bid by Southampton will be accepted at the 11th hour. Hopefully not.

Southampton are trying to shift Che Adams for the same asking price we've put on Piroe. Adams scored 22 last time he was in this division, and Adam Armstrong got 28, so they're not exactly short a proven goalscorer right now. A lot of clubs expecting things to happen with no guarantees.

Not good news!!! It’s fantastic news if he stays, honestly some of you need to take a good look at yourselves.

Neither Adams or Armstrong are in RM's plans according to local saints fans.
