Russell Martin “the mentality was wrong”

For our players the season is over , for Sheffield its not , they are going for promotion , that would account for a difference in mentality

If the players have got their flip-flops on on mid February then that's even more concerning, for me, it looks like some have downed tools, unforgivable, but the buck stops with Martin.

When the players we have regress as they have done en masse, the management and coaching staff need to be looking at themselves and the methods they have been implementing.

Even Cooper changed things up halfway through a season and results and league position are better than where we are currently at.

Doesn’t wash Russ, old bean. You’re out of excuses now. If you have any cards, you need to play them pronto.

We could easily lose the next four or five. That was a team of cowards and bottlers today that would be brushed aside by any team with intent. There’s more honesty and guts in the Trust Board. Actually, no, there isn’t, but you know what I mean.

Maybe that's why we see a marginal better performances at home games as us fans don't allow them to down tools but away matches its like a different ball game all together !

He's right, the mentality is wrong, unfortunately for him he needs to accept that he's responsible!

"We made the same mistakes again today. We have started the game so slowly, which is something we have spoken about and something we have worked on."

We're 2/3 through the season and he seriously says that.

When is he going to get that lightbulb moment. I listened to the Bristol radio commentary and I've heard that the Sheffield commentators point to our serious failings and easy to play against. Ok we beat Bristol but if other team commentaries and other teams fans can see the same things we post about, why aren't things changing?

Keep doing the same thing expecting a different outcome seems to be the only mantra.

He probably needs to rest Grimes and Downes or at least rotate them for next game, they are looking tired.
The biggest difference really though was Gibbs-White, should have had a hat trick, and I don't think we would have won the game with any of our players.
I wouldn't be too harsh, Martin needs another season or two.

At the Bristol City match, as we all were getting frustrated at the negative first half, pass-back fiasco. We had a throw-in near the edge of the Brizzle penalty area. As the players came across for it, a guy further back in the stand shouted really clearly "Come on boys! Fuck that Martin! You play the way that YOU want to play!!"

if he didnt get injured/recalled, MGW would have gotten us promoted, no question

If I see another post about poor old footballers feeling fecking tired . . . . . . . I did years in the steelworks doing 12 hour shifts, sometimes getting wet at the start and being wet through the whole shift. Feck my eyes, these poor dabs have a couple of hours training a day, and a 90 minute job once or twice a week. Snowflakes, every one! 😡😡

As 3 swan said.

Keep doing/making the same things/ mistakes exactly expecting a different outcome is plain daft

The Bristol game was won because they didn't take their chances.
When you have players playing out from the back and they're passing to players being heavily marked, you're going to be turned over.
Seems to be "play out from the back, no matter the situation "
Think as soon as we get beat like that at home the "martin sort it out" chants will be out.

Not sure if he hasn't lost the dressing room.
Pity we don't have a leader on the field either, Tatey and the rest we used to have, a lot of leaders on the pitch.
Now Grimes, who I have always said isn't a captain, can't step up and lead.

Fulham will wreck us if we keep playing like this.
And I don't see the yeehaas paying compo to him and his team until he leaves them no choice ie relegation zone.

Completely agree I posted nuch about this last season when "player fatique" was being bandied about....as you say 90 mins with a 15 min break and periods of "rest" during those 90 mins whilst people over the years have put in 12 hour shits doing hard graft with a 12 hour rest befpore the next shift for 5 days ....you couldnt make it up
