That was definitely the best ending to a game I've seen live at the stadium, my voice has gone this morning

Didn't see it coming at all, for a lot of the game we were chasing shadows and Forest missed quite a few chances (that save from Fisher was brilliant). Our possession was very "out to the wings, back to the centre circle, rinse and repeat". It felt like the momentum we had after Burgess' first goal died out so it was great to see the team have a second wind towards the end and have a proper go at them.

I didn't actually think the ref had that bad a game. The non-penalty on Yalcouye was obviously the wrong decision but I watched the highlights back on Sky and the commentators didn't see it as a penalty until they showed a couple of replays. I think we'd have got the right decision if there had been VAR. On the other hand, Galbraith's yellow could easily have been a red on another day so I guess you have to take the rough with the smooth.

I loved the look of the bench last night as well, having so many attacking options in the squad now makes such a difference.

Hopefully this will give the players a huge confidence boost going into the weekend

Wonderful to hear Burgess and Vipotnik talk about how the supporters in the ground never stopped singing and gave them the energy to push on. Tonight was one of those ‘I was there’ bragging rights nights. Hats off to those who braved the rain and paid a stupid amount to watch their team almost certainly lose, when they could have stayed warm and dry and watched it at home. I hope this is a turning point for our attendances.

I must admit, I was doubting my sanity at half time. It was a weird atmosphere too. I sat in the West for a change and there were huge gaps between fans all around the south end of the West, SW corner and South stands. It made for a very quiet game for the most part, although the NE corner did us proud as usual.

Flashbacks to the Llorente smash and grab against Palace, the Forest play off semi. I know we’ve had some great Cardiff games since relegation, but it’s been a long time since we had that sort of night.

Not liking Sheehan is like hating Alan Curtis or hoping Bambi’s mother takes a bullet (apologies if that was a spoiler…). He’s literally the most likeable manager we’ve ever had.
Williams - not likeable
Duff - not likeable
Martin - not likeable
Cooper - not likeable
I could go on but you get the picture. Even legendary managers like Laudrup and Rodgers obviously had massive egos and were not really that likeable. Adorable, but not likeable.

Yalcouye is a lovely footballer, if a bit light weight still. I can’t get over how good Galbraith is and why nobody else had snapped him up. He reminds me a bit of Gower in his peak couple of seasons under Brendan. He creates space and time from nowhere.

Good post. Predictable is the word I’d use to describe us. Forest’s movement was much better. They were running triangles around us at will. And easily finding space between our lines. But that’s what money buys.

I thought we were brave (stupid?) playing with only one sitting DM. Most teams would have a double pivot sitting in front of the defence. That hampered our ability to play out centrally (and left us vulnerable to breaks), hence all the focus down the sides. But then the two more advanced midfielders helped us create overloads. Once we did get out and into their half we caused them problems. Eom and Yalcouye especially worked very well together. It was probably all part of the plan, but did make us look slow playing out until we found a pass out to the wings.

I agree, the number of times we lost the ball cheaply in midfield to initiate Forest attacks was unreal, we got away with murder there. Also, the sheer physical difference between Premiership and Championship players was evident, we often lost 50/50 challenges through unequal strength in the tackle.

One other observation concerning their first goal. Key needs to learn that he must get an early challenge in on his winger who is receiving the ball almost on the touchline, and not keep backing off until the guy has dribbled well into the penalty area and has time to pick out his killer pass.

Having said all that, massive plaudits for our boys and management team, what grit, what spirit, what goals! Fabulous, I'm still buzzing twelve hours later.
