S25/26 | Swansea 1 (Vipotnik) Watford 1 | Att: 15,543 | The Official Match Thread | The Swansea.com Stadium | The EFL Championship

Did well to grab a point. And actually had a couple of half chances to win it.

Inoussa streets ahead of Eom at the moment. Stamenic did well when he came on.

Galbraith did well at right back.

We really didn’t create much though. Obviously not helped by Watford’s style of play but they did outmuscle us all game really and we lacked the guile to play around them.

Vipotnik took his goal well but neither him nor Cullen are good enough to be honest.

Ronald flatters to deceive again as well.

In an ideal world, we need a forward (we really, really do) and also another player wide right. Plus cover at left back, albeit we could cover with Galbraith on the right and Key moving over.

Eom seems to have gone backwards over the summer - his brief flurry of looking good at the end of last season has gone.

All in all, a really awful, stop start, bitty match which is a shame after last week. At least we didn’t lose.
It won't happen this window, but Ronald needs replacing. Inoussa hopefully is the answer on the left, Ronald will have to do for now on the right, desperately need a good striker and the only other semi weak link is Josh Key. We have the makings of a play off team.

Sheehan needs to up his game as well, his team selection have been too conservative. I personally think our build up play is still to slow, teams who have promotion ambitions seem to play at higher speed.

Ronald’s problems were summed up when Stamenic put through a beautiful ball for him after some lovely interplay with Galbraith, he was the strong favourite to get there before the Watford keeper and he chickened out of it because he didn’t want to get hurt. That would have won us the match. In a million years Dyer, for example, wouldn’t have pulled out of that. He would have scored or we would have won a penalty. Those margins are what will make the difference over a season.

Ronald didn't chicken out.. it was good keeping who came out and closed the angle down

The problem is that when Cullen is up front we are basically removing crosses as an option.

Teams are more than happy to let us have it around the penalty area because they know if we chuck it in the box they are likely to beat our 5' 10 striker to the ball.

Once Vip came on, their wingbacks had to press tighter and it created space for the midfield runners; which is why Inoussa, Tymon, Franco etc. managed to get in behind so often.
Good post.

Just got home, enjoyable day out. I thought we were pretty poor first half, but after vips equaliser, I thought we could go and win it, and definitely looked the better team, last 15 minutes or so.

Interesting conversation on Twitter, Watford fan saying Sheehan is massively out of his depth.

I didn’t see tactical issues today though, I saw a need for more physicality and a giant hole up top that needs filling. Any issues we had today I thought were down to player decision making and physical limitations.

If anything the Watford manager was the worse of the two, losing control of the match and responding by having them fall on the floor every two minutes.

What the fuck does a Watford fan know about a manger being out of his depth?

Watford's time wasting game was elite today though, fair play. They should have had their physios wired up with GPS to get their distance covered/heatmap as they probably covered more of the pitch than the players did.
It was totally unacceptable for the sake of football. Obviously a coached tactic, as the whole team seemed to have a turn at it.
Simple answer. Stop the match clock as in rugby.

Bizarre though, they were just time wasting when it was goalless, on every goal kick, free kick, throw in, then they just start falling to the floor. Not to bad a side, certainly no need for any of their players to do that! Couple of games into the season as well, quite pathetic really.

I’d like to see Galbraith in the number 10 position. Everything is quick, he’s very clever and has bags of quality.

Plus Ronald is like my old nan with her walking frame, but slower.

I agree he isn't the sharpest thinker but he tried to get a shot in when he clashed with the keeper albeit an argument could be he could have got there quicker I guess
