S25/26 | Swansea 1 (Vipotnik) Watford 1 | Att: 15,543 | The Official Match Thread | The Swansea.com Stadium | The EFL Championship

Second half kicked off….. for the next 15mins of the game, the ball spent about 10seconds in the Watford half (a clearance from Vig).
We weren’t very good going forward at all.
Ronald, Eom and Cullen all seemed isolated.
2 great goals though.

Did well to grab a point. And actually had a couple of half chances to win it.

Inoussa streets ahead of Eom at the moment. Stamenic did well when he came on.

Galbraith did well at right back.

We really didn’t create much though. Obviously not helped by Watford’s style of play but they did outmuscle us all game really and we lacked the guile to play around them.

Vipotnik took his goal well but neither him nor Cullen are good enough to be honest.

Ronald flatters to deceive again as well.

In an ideal world, we need a forward (we really, really do) and also another player wide right. Plus cover at left back, albeit we could cover with Galbraith on the right and Key moving over.

Eom seems to have gone backwards over the summer - his brief flurry of looking good at the end of last season has gone.

All in all, a really awful, stop start, bitty match which is a shame after last week. At least we didn’t lose.

Key, Cullen & Ronald weak links for me.
And Eom. Why didn't he take that shot on in the first few minutes, could have caught the goalkeeper cold. Don't quite know how long we are going to give him to come good but think Inoussa will be ahead of him in a few matches time. Defence pretty solid again, but woeful in creativity and scoring, though Vipotnik took his goal well.

I don’t know what’s happened to Josh Key. He started so well when he arrived
He was great, then injured, then not the same and then Willy thought it a good idea to push him inside for some reason. He was ok under Sheehan last season wasn’t he? I can’t remember.

I'm all good with Tymon.. think he has improved defensively under Sheehan and useful going forward.

Key is a liability defending, he decision making is questionable and lacks pace when he gets turned over. Galbraith brought some calm on that side when he slotted in and supported Ronald.

We discussed this week about physicality of the 3 in midfield and this was so evident for an hour . We were bullied into constant errors for 60 mins.

Less said about Cullen the better.. we have had 3 league games and he looks like a square peg in around hole and offers nothing in an attacking lone striker, it's just so easy to mark him out the game and his 4 first half offsides was poor at best.

Credit to Sheehan, he made the right subs at the right time.. Eom struggled with the physicality, Key struggled with the fast wingers and high press and Cullen was ineffective

Watford started to flag and chuck in some dark arts and the introduction of Steminic , Widdel and Inoussa changed the momentum and Galbraith moving to RB also helped us

Lots of work to do still...our creativity is limited and a number 9 needs to fill the obvious void. Credit to Vip, he got his chance and helped us rescue a point

A plus for Burgess too. He never stopped talking and organising the defence (and the midfield too a lot of the time). He looked like our captain out there.
I was very close to including him but we could have been 3 - nil down at half time so refrained

Cullen needs to be dropped, useless. Eom still doing nothing. Key an enigma.

Much better second half, Stamenic looks like another very good signing based on first impressions, we really do look blessed in midfield at the moment.

Innoussa should now get ahead of Eom, and Vip should be starting ahead of Cullen.

In the end happy we didn’t lose to them for two reasons; first they looked really good in the first half and we had little answer to them. Secondly, the cancerous time wasting they deployed in the second half was absolutely disgusting and now I want them relegated.

I cannot for the life of me understand why they don’t stop the clock when play stops. By far the change to make to gain the most value. It’s really getting beyond.

Watford's high press was far better than ours for the first 60 minutes and it meant we did very little with the ball. They also dominated us in midfield physically, with Stamenic replacing Yalcouye probably being the best decision made all day.

It didn't hurt that they dropped off and defended their lead, but our subs definitely made a big impact on the flow of the game. They looked a better team than us for the majority of that match, so I'm happy with a point.

Sheffield Wednesday losing 2-0 at Wrexham and Hull losing 3-0 to Blackburn earlier shows that we should be aiming for maximum points from the next two games.

Watford's time wasting game was elite today though, fair play. They should have had their physios wired up with GPS to get their distance covered/heatmap as they probably covered more of the pitch than the players did.
