S25/26 | The MATCHDAY Thread | Swansea City v Wrexham AFC | 8pm | Sky Sports Football | The EFL Championship | The Swansea.com Stadium

Welcome to Jackarmy.net. It’s nice to play a match v a Welsh side that isn’t a bubble fixture. I went to watch the Swans play Wrexham many years ago and it was a cracking away trip. Up through mid Wales and stopping off in some delightful countryside pubs. Had a food in the town centre and then went to the Turf to play pool before the match. We lost I seem to recall. We were behind the goal.
Thanks. We had the bubble games against Chester ago. An absolute farce from start to finish and thankfully those days are long gone.
I went to the last game at Vetch when we lost 2-1. That was the last time I went to Swansea

Unfortunately not. Stuck in work. I was going to until it got moved to tonight. Which scuppered my plans.
Yea, a real pain it being tonight. 3pm on Saturday would have been much easier for the travelling fans and all the fans who have Christmas night’s out tonight.

I wasn’t at that match. I was working in London so I couldn’t do mid week matches at home. I went to the Shrewsbury match that was the last league game, just prior to that match.

I think the ones that have been here a few seasons will. The manager will. Charlton's manager called us a circus last season and that backfired on him in spectacular fashion.

It might not even register but knowing Parky I reckon it will and he'll use the 'they think we bought promotion so we'll show em' to motivate the players.

I of course could be wrong and we could get pumped. Anything is possible in this league.
Anything is definitely possible, it is a bit of a bonkers league. It’s a great league to be part of. When we got promoted to it in around 2008 it felt like a massive step up. But after a while we settled and built from there. There are some great away trips. It will be great for you when your new Kop is finished.

It certainly is. I know the perception of Wrexham fans is that we're an arrogant entitled bunch since the takeover but the majority of longstanding fans are still pinching themselves that we are where we are. And are just happy to stay in this league. I've been to Ipswich Norwich Millwall & Middlesborough this season and 5 years ago I was going to Solihull, Borehamwood and Bromley, etc.
I think that when fortune comes your way following your club you've just got to savour the moment and enjoy it, because it won't last, it never does.
Personally have no real desire to get to the prem thanks to VAR but I won't complain if we're there for a season or two.

Personally, I love the Wrexham story and glad to see you thriving. Hoping for a great game tonight, but a Swans win obvs 😉

Same. I watched them in the conference before they were bought. Always wanted them back in. Same with Newport. Real shame they are slipping away. Four league clubs is the way it should be.

Sure the last time we crossed swords with Phil Parkinson was the Carling Cup final, when we battered his troops 5-0 to lift the trophy. We took our foot off the gas that day as well. More of the same tonight please.

I don’t think it’s a case of ‘ they think’ , It’s more like ‘they know’ 🤣

It’s not like it’s any big secret, when ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ screened it all in glorious HD.

I’m not knocking it, but Parky using that as a motivation speech would be comedy gold. 🤣

I’d say that there is a tangible frisson in the air about this match that has been simmering nicely over the last few days.

I won’t be able to attend due to it being a sellout, but it wasn’t through want of trying.

The relatively recent history of Parkinson’s then team, Bradford, losing to Swansea City in the EFL Cup final, will turn up the heat a bit I’m sure. He’ll probably feel that he has some unfinished business to tend to, and what better way to do so than to see his current team win against us tonight.

There may be no actual hostility between the two clubs (at least nothing that I can see on the face of it), but this match has its merits as a major box office clash for sure.

As for Wrexham, or “Disney FC” as their detractors like to call them, I really hope that they can make some lasting history for themselves by reaching the Premier League this season. I for one feel that they have actually earned it and so royally deserve a shot at the big time.

It’ll be tight but I’ll obviously be backing the men in white.

2-1 will do me.🤞

Do Penderyn still open for drinks before the game and is it any good?

I’m not working tonight so going to my first game in ages as just a fan… fancy going for a local drink before.

Rolling back the years but did anyone go to Swans 1 Wrexham 2 in February 1970? I have a lot of vivid memories of that night, some of which even may be accurate: we conceded early, had all the play, belatedly got back to 1-1 then Wrexham scored again. Arfon Griffiths stood out for the opposition. Did we miss a penalty at 0-1? Intense atmosphere at the Vetch with a big crowd and I remember my dad taking me into the stand rather than let me go under the double decker (it was my first season) as I usually did alone.

Happy ending, both teams went up.
