There are a few things (no doubt this site can add to the list) that are perceived wisdom, but really have me scratching my head
* All Brazilians are good at football
* Cullen is an intelligent world class footballer
* The top 6 in the championship are streets ahead of the bottom 6
* It is impossible to go a whole season without scoring a set piece goal
I think Matos has a great opportunity here - because in between crucial moments in the 2 penalty areas - we were every bit as good as Brizzle. I see a lot of decent players in our squad, and the margins in championship games are very fine.
Whether Matos has what it takes to get a tune out of this team is unknown - but he can start with a tactical approach that is fast aggressive and takes the ball to the opposition, and some set piece innovation.
If it was me (and it isn't) I would play Idah behind Vipotnik and give game time to Widel and Innoussa on the wings. Eom and Ronald (especially) have no end product - and Cullen is slow, weak and offering nothing. What we do about Josh Key is another question - he is a liability - Sam Parker anyone??
In answer to your last question, anyone will be an upgrade on Key.

Thinking of it he might have some links with Man City seeing as Lijnders is now their assistant manager, here’s hoping he’s got some decent links come January for us.

Look assuming Matos comes in then things have to get better.

OK he has very little experience as a manager and therein lies the risk, however has has lots of coaching experience having worked alongside Klopp for 5 years at Liverpool.

Let's hope he has learnt well from his time at Liverpool and can bring some of that to Swansea.
As long as there is more focus on in possession play then I think we’ll get better. We don’t seem to know what to do with the ball when we get it, it all looks off the cuff. That needs to get better.

I don't think I have ever seen 2 players get into dangerous areas and deliver the square root of nothing as Eom and especially Ronald.
Their delivery into the penalty area is absolutely woeful - it is no wonder we are down on all available attacking metrics. Not our only problem, by any means - but fuck me we have to improve and develop a cutting edge.

It goes without saying that today was dreadful, first half especially so.

I do think at some point when we’re having difficulties in attacking and difficulties in defending someone somewhere has to say perhaps our midfield is the bloody problem.

There are players who’ve done nothing for weeks getting a free pass.

It’ll be interesting to see the crowd on Tuesday. How many will turn up?
I’ll be there, as Michael Jackson once said.

'It don't Matos if you're black or white' dur dur dur dur...durrr durrrrrr

New chant in the making.

I am very keen to not see Ronald or Eom wear the shirt again. Most clubs get a bounce when a manager is sacked and we had the opposite. That was woeful today. For the first time after following the club for decades I’m starting to understand what some fans of other clubs mean when they talk about players not playing for the shirt but themselves only. Crap

It was pretty obvious when those genuinely insane stories came out last week that Ronald is being eyed by teams in the Premier League (snigger) that his agent is trying to get his name out there which doesn’t exactly scream commitment.

A coach is great but a manager needs man management skills. Let's hope he changes our direction

Think it's more the balance and roles each midfielder has. They all appear lost in system than clearly doesn't work.

This is what gives me hope to be honest. A lot of our problems this season seem to be tactical, the players look lost. They need clear communication to carry out the manager’s plan and it doesn’t look like they’ve had that.

We need Matos to make the game simple for them.
