Galbraith is a tidy, technically very good player but he is not standing out at the moment.

He is very promising and may develop, but people are talking about him as though he’s Leon or Joe Allen in their prime. At the moment he’s more reminiscent of Tom Carroll or that other small midfield bloke we had on loan from Chelsea whose name completely escapes me.
He needs more attacking intent he looks brilliant with the ball in our own half and can pass the ball so well. But he just can’t find those killer balls in the final 3rd. Tbf that applies to the whole team, but he seems like he’s got the skill to do that.

Does anybody believe that Preston have better players than us (4th) or Charlton for that matter (6th) or Millwall or Bristol or Hull come on ffs.
We have a rookie manager who got the traditional bounce last season that’s the main reason we are where we are.

On paper at least, calling this team "average" is a massive disservice. It seems more apparent when we have seen glimpses of their potential on the pitch in previous games.

I believe it's their utilization to blame. The manager's responsibility.

If Sheehan wants to be considered a serious manager he needs to get back to basics. Go with the strengths of the squad and focus on quick ball and counter-attacking -- some of our weakest areas. However, at this point there are more things broken than can be improved on and so this 'back to basics' may come too late for Sheehan.

Nothing will change unless something changes.

Burgees played 18 times in the Premier League last season.....
Yes, you are technically right, but it’s a stupid argument. They weren’t a premier league team as they proved, and he’s not a premier league player as the best he could do was join a mid table championship side. Him and Vig are probably the closest though.

I don't think this squad is incredible, but I am very confident we are significantly underperforming. Results aside, our performances week in, week out, are that of a side who are just there to make up the numbers and avoid anything too dramatic at the bottom end of the table.

We've just lost to a Preston side who are ravaged with injuries (8 first team players out according to FotMob), without really threatening them at any point. Sure, we looked more in control than we have recently, but we had maybe one decent chance that we didn't score?

Sheehan doesn't have a strongest first eleven, we don't have any real style of play at all, it is dreadful to watch, and we create absolutely nothing every single week.

I don't necessarily disagree that it's down to more than just Sheehan, but it's very hard to speak positively about him at the moment when it is this much of a slog to watch us. I have absolutely no reason to defend him, other than that he seems a nice enough bloke.

Worryingly, I feel very similar now as to how I did with Williams towards the end. Complete apathy. I know what to expect - we will functionally operate for 80 mins, cock up a bit, and depending on the quality of opposition, we will likely lose.

Also, penny for the owners thoughts. Spent a decent amount in their first summer, only to see us still starting Liam Cullen up front in 2025.

That was a frustrating watch. We played well enough to get something from a tough away game. Fortune favoured Preston tonight, that's for sure.

I've got no time for the hysterical sack the manager brigade after that. Save that for another day.
Innit Preston are no mugs👍

Ironically that wasn't a bad performance. 1 screamer and a mismatch breakaway, but we did create more than usual.

And that would be fine v 4th placed team (how they are so far ahead of us with the respective squads is another debate) coming off the back of a few wins. But it wasn't. It followed a few months of turgid, uninspiring play.

Lose Saturday and we could be 19th going into the international break. Times up.

We need a change of direction on the manager front

As it stands, we will be a bottom 5 side very soon with no light at the end of the tunnel.

There is very little improvement from our first 3 games if anything some players are regressing which sits with AS.

We’re pretty rubbish, as I pointed out against City. Whatever the manager is doing is not working. Whether he/we have anything in the tank to improve matters would be pure guesswork and I guess not. We are where we are based on the ability of our playing staff and manager.
