What happened to getting excited by signing a player from Orient then???
I’ve said every time I’ve seen him that I think he’s a very very good player?

The point I made which you are probably referring to is that some on twitter were saying that we were going to ‘piss the league’ as a result of his purchase which is a ridiculous reaction to buying a young player from Orient. He undoubtedly seems to have great potential, but to put pressure on him to be the lynchpin of our midfield all season in the championship is too much.
The club seems to agree with that which is why we’re signing the midfielder from Brighton.
And why we tried to sign O’Brien.

I’m sure all of us hope that all of our signings will eventually prove to be incredibly good buys. It will serve us well on the pitch and in time serve us well financially if that’s the case.

We will need to see them play for a few months at championship level before we can say that’s the case though. Fingers crossed though.

I think Casey showed enough to keep Cabango out of the team at the moment. I certainly wouldn't leave Burgess out. Wins every header and more than tidy on the ground. Immense presence in defence.
He didn’t win the header that led to the goal against Boro on Saturday…

I don’t think it’s viable to drop your club captain for a young loan player unless Cabango is just shockingly awful for a few games.

I know you can only beat what's in front of you, but tonight still feels like we are quite a bit off of play-off contenders.

Last night was further proof that we have a manager who is intent on adapting his tactics to the opponent he faces. Anyone who was afraid that Fulton is Sheehan’s new Grimes-the-Undroppable can relax. Those who hate Fulton’s guts not so much - I suspect we’ll see a fair bit of him over the full season.

Beep Beep…but eloquently put I suppose

Fulton could well be selected to face the Blades

I don’t dislike Jay the way some on here do, because I think he’s a better player than many give him credit for, but the rash tackles and pointless backward passes are maddening. If Sheehan plans to use him to frustrate more attack-minded teams, let’s hope we see more of the old Jay and less of the one who lost us the play-off final and created the partnership from hell with Matt Grimes.

Concur, Andrew. Tidy.

3-1 was the minimum expectation, as expressed.

A tick in the box, let’s all hope Sheezy and his massively diluted quorum inject some semblance of proper Swanseafooty, ‘prompto’.

Tonight was meek Swanseafooty-light.

Looking forwards to a massively more exciting season, shed entirely of Martin-Willyballs nonsense.

Let’s all enjoy the fruits of our excellent best in class recruitment apparatus and massively generous American investors pumping ever more hard earned $greenback…….
You were the guy who thought the sun shone out of Grimes’ arse weren’t you. The “SCFC heartbeat” ? Poor wum

Totally wrong! Poor assessment. I was one of the harshest critics of Saturday's performance, but that was far, far better. On another night could have scored 5 or 6. And it showed why Fulton shouldn't be within a hundred miles of this club. People played in their correct positions. Special mention for Casey, who looked immense alongside Burgess, and Galbraith is going to be hard to hold onto in January if he continues like that.

Opinions.

The performance was better than Saturday but we were playing a team at the bottom end of League 2,

There were individual good performances, and we could and should have scored more, but I still stand by my opinion that as a team we lacked urgency and were slow to spot attacking passes.

We seem to be hard coded that way. Even during Sheehan’s good run, we often ignored obvious attacking opportunities to play safe, Not as much as Martin or Williams, but it’s still palpably there. I think it’s wildly optimistic to expect anything to change in that regard. Sheehan was always part of the strategy, if not its main architect, and it happens too often not to be approved. Just got to hope we keep on the upward trajectory, Sheehan uses all the clubs in his bag, and we gain more confidence in attacking better teams than Crawley. Winning breeds confidence, so I’m hopeful for Saturday. If we don’t attack SU properly after what happened to them last Saturday, it would be a mistake.

Little bit of prospective needed, Crawley are lower L2 level and that showed last night. However there were positives.

Parker had a decent game at RB and is for me as good if not better than Key. He needs regular game time to ensure his development (and not on loan elsewhere).

Galbraith looked very good (but remember it was against L2 opposition).

Casey also look decent enough, so if Santos can offer something then we may be OK at CB

We have lots of options out wide and in the attacking midfield roles (hopefully the competition will drive them on to be even better).

I think Widdell will be good, I like his industry and used correctly he will be a real threat (might be up and down until he settles).

Tymon is not the player he was under Luke Williams (that is a good thing) and whilst he has defensive deficences he is a great attacking outlet down the left.

The not so good...

Cooper was non exsistent and I can't see him getting much playing time this season, probally should cash in if at all possible.

Strikers !! we just don't have one that is good enough and this will be the achilles heel for this team (unless we sign one). Viptonik wasn't great last night and this was disappointing as I want him to come good but if he can't raise his game against Crawley !!

Wales did OK when came on and took his goal well enough, but I didn't see much else and feel he has a steep learning curve. One example was when he was caught offside late in the game when he would have an open field to run into, he didn't seem to have the awareness to check his run which ended a very good move (this is something he must learn and very quickly).

A new striker is the top priorty (and he must be a massive improvement on what we already have).
