That’s why measuring players in ‘assists’ and ‘goals’ is horseshit. They make loads of other valuable contributions to a game.

If only pointing was valuable, we’d have a £100m player.
While not every player will rack up goals and/or assists to say that measuring a player by them is horseshit is equally foolhardy. Strikers can do very little in a game but if they are getting a goal every other game and consistently turning draws into wins and losses into draws then that is valuable in and of itself.

Just my opinion, but he looks terrified every time the ball is swung out wide to him. Definitely worth a place on the bench, but not a starter, same goes for Ronald, and that's where our problems lie at the moment.
He blows hot and cold doesn’t he? One minute beating a man easily, the next backing out of putting in an early cross into a dangerous area. We don’t know what they’re being asked to do but he currently looks like another winger without the end product. The pace and technique is there, he just needs some swagger/arrogance.

Today for me whilst not the most fluent performance was a great result and there were more positives than negatives.

The two things that stood out for me were Walta's cameo which I thought was excellant. But more importantly was the way Matos was with the players on the pitch after the final whilstle, was very reminiscant of the way Klopp interacted with his players at Liverpool.

This 2nd point I think is massive you can see how the players are loving life under Matos, he clearly has great man management skills (sorely lacking in our recent coaches).

Also for the record I thought Eom played well today (despite what some on here have said) and he is probally our best wide player at the moment.

I would like to see Nunes here next season as well as I think he has the attributes to be very good and will suit the way Matos sets up the team, not sure the same applies to Ronald or Inoussa but time will tell.

*only*, by them. Someone was doing that earlier with EOM. If Eom’s not on the pitch today we don’t score that goal. Ditto Nunez. It’s a team game. Drawing players away to create space is equally unappreciated, as is pressing and harrying. This Yankee insistence on stats and measurement ignores any synergies.

100%

Widdell's goals and assist stats are woeful, but his importance to the current style of play is crucial (and no one else can do it as well).

Rodri won the Ballon'dor but he don't score too often

You can see why Ronald gets picked, he may not have a final ball but his work rate in both attack and defence is superb, Nunes unfortunately looked knackered from the first whistle, Scott Sinclair he certainly isn’t.
