I think it’s one of those situations where Galbraith is our best midfielder yet the midfield is better as a whole when he is at right back. He, Stamenic and Franco get in each others way a lot whereas today it allowed all of them to play.
Wrong.

You’ve clearly not played the game at a decent level, most esp in the midfield space,

We have an abundance of midfield riches assembled, to play across the park .

EG is the linchpin at our core, with highly talented midfielders capable of adapting dynamically - and now with a talented manager to manage that dynamic.

.

According to the BBC report the Xg was: Swansea 0.63. Oxford 1.16.

I don't understand that at all.

All mentioned were chances but how many did we create from open play? Were those chances something you would class as clear chances?
I am not overly concerned as the 3 points were the most important thing today and I do think confidence is low.
I'm gonna get absolute pelters for this but I can't be the only one who thinks that wasn't nearly as good of a performance as being made out. Don't get me wrong we needed a win by hook or by crook but I seen alot of signs today which worried me more then anything.

The open play point I agree we didn't create anything again and that's with Eom having his best game in a Swansea shirt imo. The subs were the most worrying part, going 5 at the back with no recognized ST at home against Oxford? If Sheehan made those subs there would have been thread after thread made about it.

We gave them way too much territory and belief in a game which should have killed if I'm being completely honest. They were a really poor team if we played someone better today (e.g. West brom) we'd have been lucky to come away with a point with that 2nd half performance.

Their xg was higher than ours when we went 2-0 up yet they hadn't got near our box for 45 minutes... makes no sens

Sheehan would have done it at 2-0 down mush🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Won the game, kept a clean sheet, fought for each other and controlled most of the game which isn't bad when you consider we haven't won in five and the manager has had a full week with the players at the training ground.

One game at a time and today was a fantastic start.

I thought Widell was off the pace today. Might have been after the knock he had but was a bit slow anticipating a couple of times. More match practice should sort it. He’s got something.
I thought that his work rate and vision were excellent
His execution didn't always come off but there were a number of times when he played an immediate ball into space behind the full backs for Ronald or Eom to attack. That execution and understanding with the wingers will come when he gets consistent game time.

Added to that some of his link play with Eom and Tymon was a delight.

I thought that he merited his place in an attacking midfield role.

The Vigouroux save with his legs and that driving shot of theirs that he had to save near the end will do most of the work for their XG. Ours was low because the only clear cut chance we had was the Stamenic goal. Tymon goal was one in a million. Doesn’t mean we couldn’t have scored more though, a couple of times we were a slightly better decision away from another goal for me.

Could be wrong, but I think that might be the first time Widell has started a game in the centre of midfield as opposed to out wide. Agree completely that consistent game time is the key.

But I don't think we did control most of the game. First 10mins they were better, we were then ontop from then until half time. Then the 2nd half was all them and the changes made it worse.

We controlled 35mins of a 90min game against a really poor quality side at home. We can't give an away team that much control when we are 2-0 up.

Just enjoy the three points.

We didn’t have full control of the game but we’ve not had many games under Matos to work on that. I’m sure we’ll see more control, especially in home games. Important that we build up confidence at the moment, control will come when we do that.
