Some thoughts after yesterday’s game

I thought Inoussa looked a promising buy in the first 5/10 games of the season. He was having an impact from the bench and looked sharp and skillful.

Hes not really kicked on at all

He’s probably the only player I think has gone backwards under Matos
I’m guessing here and probably no truth in it. Maybe Matos is asking Inoussa to press at certain times, be in positions at certain times, track back or whatever the structure maybe, and Innossa is better when he is just free to float about on the wing and attack when he can.

I used to play Rugby and when the team went up the leagues and we got more professional, coaches came in and everything was organised, players in certain places at certain times, calls for every set play and eventually the whole game scripted.
My game went out the window as I couldn’t keep it all in my head, where I would love running at people off the base of the ruck or offloads, I was being told that wasn’t the play. Did my fooking head in.

How do you feel when they call us sheepshaggers or Swansea is a shithole and they want to go home, does that make you feel embarrassed as well?
Nope. Because we don't shag sheep nor is Swansea ( Gower etc) a shithole. Nor are they Club related. My criticism is actually at the Club because they invite justified away fan derision by stupidly announcing it. Why bother. Just flash it up on the screen if they have to do something. But it's not that big a thing for me tbh, I just threw it in as an aside to the OP post. It's my view is all. You have yours. Just agree to disagree

I’ve not been arsey to you, just trying to work out why that would make you feel embarrassed that’s all. For the record I’m not bothered if they announce it or not, makes no odds to on the pitch stuff. Everything else is just pantomime isn’t it.

It used to be interesting during our Premier League days when the attendance was announced and the Arsenal/Liverpool/Man U etc fans would sneer and then it would stick in their throats when they realised that this little club were handing their arses to them on the pitch.

I tend to agree with you. It's not so much the figure per se, if it was just announced in a matter of fact way, or if it was just flashed up on the scoreboard, no problem. It's the way it's announced and made a big thing of, amost as if the announcer WANTS the opposition fans to take the p*ss.

My main takeaway from the game is we’re exciting to watch on a regular basis. I’m looking forward to going to every game now. That excitement has been missing for a few years now.
Cooper onwards tbh.

It's the intent now to press & to go forward, and at pace, that's refreshing - not that s**t slow stop/ sideways/ back stuff. Just need some more quality up front and wide.

Yep, it's the "thanks for your MAGNIFICENT support Jack Army " 😂. WTF !

Though as JB says it was funny when we were beating the likes of Man U etc.

Different circumstances now though when the likes of Brum are taking the piss 🤔

..and bigger summer cash from the owners for that extra quality. Not sure we'll get it tbh

Have to remember it's not a reflection on the owners benevolence, it's the FFP limitations. We need to generate more income to raise the ceiling a la Wrexham, who are able to spend more without breaching FFP

The habits and the basics with this team are now spot on - we press like maniacs as high up the pitch as possible. Our goals in the last two home league games have come as a direct result of that approach.

The problem we have is the problem we've had for a long time - a total lack of quality on the ball in the final third, mainly from our wingers/attacking midfielders, who are not good enough. We should have won that game yesterday but it was that problem that caused us not to.

If we can bring in better quality in wide areas, with the building blocks Matos is putting in place, this team can really go places. But that's easier said than done and will take time.

They’re all sat on the matchday thread moaning about loan players, Fulton, Dimi and the cleaning lady 🤣

Really do need a win Tuesday with 2 tricky away games coming up.

Galbraith is the best right-back and midfielder in the Championship by a country mile, but the sooner Ward is up to speed, the better.
He isn’t the best in either position.

The last few games he hasn’t been the best midfielder in our team when he’s played there let alone the division.

The last three or four games he’s actually not played very well.

But now everyone has decided he’s the best ever, no one is honest about it.

He keeps straying way out of position at right back leaving us open on that flank and when he’s come into midfield towards the end of games we’ve looked more cluttered and less free in our midfield play as he’s trying to do too much. And his set piece delivery hasn’t been great. Yesterday a few of his free kicks were poor.

We became noticeably less strong in midfield yesterday when he moved across, effectively replacing Franco.

He’s a very technically talented player with a lot of promise but as someone else pointed out he probably needs a rest.

We don't? Someone could have said, I've just bought new wellies.
