Refs make hundreds and hundreds of decisions in a match. Far more than anyone else on the pitch. The vast majority are correct. But the law of averages says they are going to make more mistakes than anyone else. And sometimes in a split second there is going to be a major mistake. I'm just saying we have to live with those. They broadly even out over a season. Just be accepting of human error is all I say. Players and refs.
We shouldn't have to accept human error with the technology available and any other profession making the same level of mistakes as referees normally get sacked.

The games I've had the whistle went well, didn't get any shit from anyone other on the pitch or watching.
Good on you for having a go at what is a really difficult job...but a baying biased 15k plus crowd puts the pressure on a hundredfold tbf

15k fans putting pressure on the ref doesn't really explain the decisions which go against us week in week out.

No technology outside Premier League. Just basic eyesight and split second interpretation, no back up. So make allowances I reckon.

VAR is another issue. It's not working properly I agree but the pressure inside that TV screen studio can equally be super intense. So many angles, so many phases. Horrendous job I reckon. A first step is to simplify rules on handball for example. And offside. TV interpretations made simpler in consequence

That not acceptable on any level and I think you're being a little extreme.
Not at all I’ve heard it.Was a ref for about 40yrs here and in Oz.Heard a fan in the West Stand at the vetch say the cancer comment to a colleague of mine. Before I got to him an old lady got stuck into him.You obviously seem to think it’s ok.Thats why people like you are the cause of a dearth of referees coming through

It's never been any different ...you say they go against us ..we're biased . Works both sides. And our interpretation of "wrong" isn't always correct. Yes there are a few obvious, but often fans don't know a lot of the rules anyway.

I think you're just making excuses for a profession that should be doing a lot better.

Can’t argue with that.It seems smurph is striving for perfection!

Already given you my opinion on the cancer comment, which is one comment from a moron. Bit of a bold statement stating people like me are the reasons we don't have enough referees.

From the very beginning of this thread I have stated supporters and player aren't looking for perfection, getting the basics correct is enough.

I had a feeling you might have been a referee, the blind defense was a giveaway.

Blind defence? I think I am more of an authority to comment about referees than someone that has done the odd game. And using the term “cowardice” yea right. We make honest decisions,so you will always get one team disagreeing with your decisions, notwithstanding the assessor that might be watching,so being a coward as you so quaintly called refs wouldn’t wash

Just being realistic as regards a profession which is in danger of being overly criticised and insulted these days. Without refs we have no game ! I've been watching games since 1968 and overall no better or worse in my opinion. But TV replays highlight the worse is all. It's a thankless job tbh and all I would say is they make hundreds and hundreds of decisions, mostly correct ..and the system broadly evens itself out.
