Like I said earlier players cheat which Smurf didn’t comment on.I don’t think you can level that at refs
Paul, I've seen enough officials shit out of giving decisions for decades. The fact you can't acknowledge this is not my problem.Blind defence? I think I am more of an authority to comment about referees than someone that has done the odd game. And using the term “cowardice” yea right. We make honest decisions,so you will always get one team disagreeing with your decisions, notwithstanding the assessor that might be watching,so being a coward as you so quaintly called refs wouldn’t wash
Football is one of the only sports in the world where the officials are routinely shit week in week out. Make out of that what you like.Just being realistic as regards a profession which is in danger of being overly criticised and insulted these days. Without refs we have no game ! I've been watching games since 1968 and overall no better or worse in my opinion. But TV replays highlight the worse is all. It's a thankless job tbh and all I would say is they make hundreds and hundreds of decisions, mostly correct ..and the system broadly evens itself out.
I did reply to that comment, I'm not surprised you missed it though, now that I know you've got a whistle and a set of cards.Like I said earlier players cheat which Smurf didn’t comment on.I don’t think you can level that at refs
"Routinely shit week in week out" is a total exaggeration.Football is one of the only sports in the world where the officials are routinely shit week in week out. Make out of that what you like.
It's a fact. There is a major fuck up in at least one game every week just in the premier league let alone in the other 3 divisions."Routinely shit week in week out" is a total exaggeration.
Not talking about subjective decisions, we’re talking about blatant mistakes. The issue is when you have adults masquerading as petulant babies for 90 minutes then they surrender any objectivity and degree of impartiality to what is in front of them
Its the nature of the beast, you and I are not going to agree with any decision that goes against the team that we give our die hard support to
Evidence is on this thread really
Pick up a whistle and challenge yourself.
Which they obviously do on purpose!Right, ValleyJack, Paul, I'll let you eave

The specific stats will unlikely bear out this generalisation across four divisions, but while I still maintain referees are no better/ worse overall over the years, it's TV analysis which has majorly skewed criticisms ...and how you improve refs to counter that slow-mo technology, I'm simply not sure. They are still only human and referring to them as "routinely shit" is bollox and counter- productive. It's a fact. Some of the mistake are that bad it does make you wonder.Which they obviously do on purpose!
Referees in rugby, cricket, tennis are also human, we don't seem them making high profile mistake every week. The specific stats will unlikely bear out this generalisation across four divisions, but while I still maintain referees are no better/ worse overall over the years, it's TV analysis which has majorly skewed criticisms ...and how you improve refs to counter that slow-mo technology, I'm simply not sure. But it perhaps explains the decisions that go for us.15k fans putting pressure on the ref doesn't really explain the decisions which go against us week in week out.
You can't compare tennis or cricket to football ! Footy refs have hundreds of decisions to make each game involving the actions of 22 players. Rugby refs also have far less cheating.Referees in rugby, cricket, tennis are also human, we don't seem them making high profile mistake every week.
Get better at what you do, it's not that hard.
I think football fans (and I include myself in this) are less accepting of referee mistakes than in rugby, cricket and tennis.Referees in rugby, cricket, tennis are also human, we don't seem them making high profile mistake every week.
