The missus does Netflix, and we've only got Freeview, most nights the tv is playing to itself in the corner.JackSomething said:What's funny is there's almost certainly more brilliant TV around now than ever before, with the rise of 'prestige television' from the late 90's onwards. It's been increased by all the new players in the market over the last few years spending big money, like Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney...
Having so many people making and broadcasting so much content, the problems are that the good and great stuff can sometimes be missed in amongst the incredible amount of other new shows that are either average or shite and are just there to fill a gap in the schedule. Having all the content spread across various subscription based providers also doesn't help if you want to watch everything (or as close to that as possible).
It's a far cry from only having 4 or 5 channels to choose from to be sure and it's harder for something to become the kind of show that get's everyone talking about it, but the best stuff is better than ever.
I'm not far off where you are to be honest. I'm into my gaming and probably spend as much time watching a few people I like on Twitch/Youtube as I do watching TV with the other half. We'll usually watch an episode of something after the kid is off to bed, so it takes us ages to work through a series and the list of what we want to watch is growing all the time!
