Summer Transfer Window

Apart from Yates, all squad players with little or no resale value, so no urgency to move them on, although it would be handy to free up some wages. Will Franco, Cullen, Eom and Vipotnik attract interest? Possibly, although we would probably want at least 3 million, preferably 4, for the latter 3, and more for Franco.
Eom's transfer value is worth significantly more than that as much for his commercial value as his footballing value.

It might sound like a stereotyping but Koreans love idols and they love sports stars just as much. He is already an international player and his value in shirt sales and merchandising if/when he makes the step up to one of the big league divisions would be significant in a similar vein to Park during his Man Utd days

I also believe he will kick on from his improved second half of the season and this will be a real breakout season for him especially if he does end up playing in his favoured number 10 role rather than out on the wing.

I would certainly consider moving on at least 1 of Cooper,Ginnelly and even Cullen if it meant us getting a very good striker in and/or central midfielder.
I could see interest in Cullen, 11 goals and 3 assists in 42 appearances (1 goal involvement every 3 games) are certainly numbers enough to tempt people to take a look at him.

Transfermarkt values him at 3m euros (about 2.8m)

No suprise at all.
There seems to be a few more people aware of the transfer planning/possible signings online.....I have the feeling the "WOW" signing story has been a plant.

With how Burgess came completely out of the blue i'd say not many people are aware at all. Leaks seem to have been stopped. Random names appearing on twitter are just that as it stands, random.

I was surprised to see all the news about a huge signing imminent, with what money? We'd surely need a sale of some sort though getting the likes of Myko off the wagebill will help, we'll probably need a few more than that.

The new strategy seems to be the long term amortisation transfer strategy, Inoussa was signed for 5.5m which normally would be well outside our budget, but the payments seem to have been just 500k up front and then 1m per year every summer transfer window.

It can be a high risk strategy, if your signings flop then its a recipe for disaster with your budget already spent every summer just with your ongoing transfer commitments but it can allow you to get in more quality quicker and if the players are sold on at profit then its also a positive result.

I posted somewhere about this the other day.
It's a superb way of working if your budget is not as strong as others but the rewards are high as the risk.........luck does also play a huge part.

Every year the club pays off that bit more so as long as their sold at a break even minimum then this strategy can keep rolling until hopefully they find that player who creates a big sale and profit.

It's a risky venture but can bring huge rewards and certainly change the landscape either way.

I think and it's only my guess that if there was a plant then it was done to make someone look silly or highlight them on a social media platform.

As I say it's just my thoughts......I'm probably wrong though 😁

Possibly but just as likely just someone random making it up.

Things can easily get twisted and can certainly get like Chinese whispers as it goes down the line.

Congreve and to a lesser extent Wilson might offer something. Congreve has a bit of an X factor for an impact sub and can create a goal or assist - yes he was at a lower level - but ask the Newcastle fans 🤔 Wilson has burning pace - enough said, we haven't had a genuine pacey striker since (not sure we ever had one - wingers yes BUT))
For a host of reasons (financial and structural) we need to see our first team squad represented by our best youngsters - so throw Dabrowski Cotterril both Parkers a keeper Lissah etc into the picture.
In a 26 man first team squad I would like to see 18-20 proven commodities and a minimum of 6 places for our best academy products.
If they have quality they will improve with daily involvement with our first team squad.

I agree 100 per cent. Fortunately I think it's unlikely we will get big bids in this window, but in the unlikely event a bid in excess of 8 million comes in I'm sure he will leave. I think we will have him for another season at least.

Especially agree with the last para. Whatever "it" is he has it.

The bottom line is, are they good enough? Parker is clearly deemed good enough for a regular place on the bench, despite his tender years. I have no idea about the rest. But in general it would probably be best if these youngsters went out on loan, with recall clauses. Sitting on the bench match after match is no good to anyone.
