Summer Transfer Window

Seems like he has signed for Wrexham
It appears so.
Been reported by Alan Nixon and that O'Rourke guy, both seem to be erratic with their reporting but both have stated it with quite a bit of confidence.

Didn't expect him to go to Wrexham, if it's true that Forest have lowered their feet then it might alert one or 2 other clubs late on.

If the reported transfer fee of £5m and wages of £40k per week on a 3 year contract are true, then that's the kind of deal that only a club with very high revenue or parachute payments could contemplate in this division.

That would be a total financial commitment of around £11.2m all in. He's a fine player, but that's crazy money.
Playing devils advocate here a little.

The wage costs of the players that have left us would easily cover the reported O’Brien deal. Grimes and Pederson alone would come close. And we’ve lost Allen, Naughton as well who were on relatively significant sums. Plus Fulton is on a significant sum.

We are a few players short at present of being able to hold our own in this division. We are really in need of another three. One of whom is an experienced midfielder who can provide a really solid foundation for the young players we’ve brought in. In my mind, it’s the position that I would have paid more for as getting the spine right is everything. The creativity which hopefully we’ve added can flow from that.

Same with a centre forward. Although I wouldn’t be in favour of McBurnie at anything like the sums bandied about. His record since leaving us has been patchy to say the least and I think we could do better.

O’Brien, for me, is a loss.

It is a loss on the field for sure, but a package of £10m+ all in is not something we can or should be doing, unless we fancy a knock on the door from the FFP/PSR police.

Gutted then, but we are right to walk away from this one.
