Summer Transfer Window

I sincerely hope that yet again we're not asleep at the wheel recruitment-wise and we have a plan to replace Darling, Naughton, Franco (if he goes), Joe and O Brien. And by plan I mean proper plan, not rifling around in the reduced fridge for yellow stickers on deadline day like we usually do.

FFP can be blamed for many things, but not having a proper recruitment plan isn't one of them.

Not sure why those teams would be in the mid table Championship market for a player who has only recently managed 90 mins..

If he goes then £12M should be the price tag.. he is under contract so we hopefully will keep him one more year.

Galbraith from Orient is one we should be looking at again. They failed to get promoted, N. ireland international and been a stand out performer in that league this year. 1 mil rejected in Jan, one year left on his contract now so could probably get the deal done for pennies on the pound compared to his true value. O'brien-esque player

Gonçalo Franco, ex-Moreirense, now Swansea player, is very close to Sporting CP 🟢⚪

Sporting CP has already approached the English club and made a 10M offer for the athlete 💵

The Portuguese has a contract until 2028 and is a key player for Swansea, difficult negotiations are expected

Only a few posts on twitter about this and posters have very few followers. Would I be surprised though if it's any truth in it? No, I wouldn't.

I am comfortable with him going as long as we get a good fee that would allow us to get 3/4 players in of first team quality.

It’s probably worth keeping in mind that Franco still has 3 years left and it’s the first time under this ownership that this situation has happened bar Grimes who at that point we had to get something for and part ways. Let’s hope Montague and co are shrewd and we can actually get good value for important players, which didn’t always happen under the previous lot.

He's good, but is he goood enough for sporting?
I’d think so. Portuguese league isn’t that great. I’d say he’s already good enough to be be mid - lower premier league player.

Hes got a bit of the Ngolo Kante about him

either way, if a club like them are sniffing then it needs to be 15mil plus
Honestly think we’ll be lucky to get half that.

Sadly defensive minded players don’t seem to have the same value as exciting attackers - even though they’re just as important to a team.

It would be a real blow to lose him… such a fan favourite who seems to encapsulate what we’re about at the moment.

I would have agreed with you, until Adam Wharton left Blackburn for Palace for £18 million rising to £22 million. And he's more than proved his worth. Joao Pedro joined Brighton from Watford for £30 million and has been a big success. Similarly Gyokeres to Sporting. There's clearly good value to be had in the Championship even for big bucks. Bellamy has stated it's the 5th most intense league in the World, so a good testing ground. £12 million is not an unreasonable expectation of Franco's worth.

Domestically he would be. Outside the top 3 in Portugal then the quality is lower prem/champ level.
A good season in the Portuguese league would raise his value for other European leagues. The European comps would be an interesting scenario for Franco.

So did they not see his potential when he was playing in their league?
I like Franco . He's done well for us. Yes he will make us a profit. Would clubs really risk £10m on him at this stage? Can't see that happening just now. Maybe after next season if he keeps improving.
