Fair enough. If that calibre of club wants to sign him then perhaps £17 million is a good starting point for discussion. After all Gyokeres was signed from Championship Coventry and has done phenomenally well. I had a look at his stats and he's best in league for about 16 metrics right across the board. The Championship is a decent testing ground.

It's not they choose not to, it's because Financial Fair Play rules prevent them from doing so.

We were one of the six championship clubs who sort to loosen rules to allow more spending (under the previous regime) but the fact we are restricted in spending passes people by.

But this is the sort of transfer we need to be moving forward. Young, talented with a high resale value.

Considering we signed him for between £1.5m - £3m, I think we can quite righteously expect more than £6m for unarguably our best player

That would be a shocker by the club if that's all we get.
He's young & under a lengthy contract.
I know it's a different league but Adam Wharton had 1 season for Blackburn & went for £20m

Part of the reason that I think we can only afford to sell Franco for £10m+, it'll cost that to get replacements in. That's just pure 'four bodies through the door' too, ignoring the likely drop-off in quality
