Summer Transfer Window

That Franco Ivanovic is very interesting. 20 year old Croatian striker. 20 goals and 5 assists from 46 matches for team that topped the Belgian league. Probably out of our price range, but could Modric have an influence?

Sporting, Porto, Benfica. Se o quiserem de volta o preço é 20 milhões
Sporting, Porto, Benfica. If they want him back the price is 20 million (Euros presumably).

Hope that's true, but I'd be amazed if we got that much for him.

That was just me saying that. No idea how much they'd pay

Fair enough. If that calibre of club wants to sign him then perhaps £17 million is a good starting point for discussion. After all Gyokeres was signed from Championship Coventry and has done phenomenally well. I had a look at his stats and he's best in league for about 16 metrics right across the board. The Championship is a decent testing ground.

The talk is €15m which is about £12.5m. That’s a good return on one season where the team were up and down. Let’s hope Montague has players lined up to replace him

It's not they choose not to, it's because Financial Fair Play rules prevent them from doing so.

Unless they significantly increase our revenues, we are not going to be able to spend bigger money, unless we fancy a fine and/or points deductions. It's as simple as that.

Staggering how many people still don't understand this. We've had years of PST rules by this point, and yet regular posts about "investment and ambishun!!" abound.

We were one of the six championship clubs who sort to loosen rules to allow more spending (under the previous regime) but the fact we are restricted in spending passes people by.

Would be gutted if he goes, has a real connect with the club and the fans.
But this is the sort of transfer we need to be moving forward. Young, talented with a high resale value.
That tweet suggests he's close to going, hopefully the new board will play hardball over the fee.
Nothing less than £15m for an opening offer please drive.

But saying that, if he goes we'll have lost
Grimes (yeah, I know)
LOB
Franco
Wee Joe Allen
Our midfield will be down to the bare bones so lots of work to do

Part of the reason that I think we can only afford to sell Franco for £10m+, it'll cost that to get replacements in. That's just pure 'four bodies through the door' too, ignoring the likely drop-off in quality
