Widells a winger/10
A proper #10 is exactly what we've been desperate for all season.

That and a proper #9...A proper #10 is exactly what we've been desperate for all season.
Has been playing primarily as a central midfielder but can play at 10 and wide.Widells a winger/10

Agreed on both fronts.I've still got faith in Vipi.
We do need better than Cullen to compete with him though.
I didn’t have him down as a wide player, where did this get mentioned? Anywhere down the middle from DM to AM is how I considered him, with more emphasis on attacking than deep.Actually I take that back watching his highlights reel again. He is not a winger. He is m/f or 10. Picks up the ball deep a number of times in the video. If you want to get excited about next season watch it. 1. Superb Technical Skill. 2 Great shooter 3. Amazing range of passes. If he can produce that kind of stuff in the Championship then Coleman snagged a huge bargain
Melker Widdell Highlights
Reel doesnt show what his defensive qualities are tho
I think back in January he was listed as a winger on one of the sites I looked at but like I said rewatchijg his highlights reel he is mf or 10 and not a winger. Saying that, we still have work to do with wide players. I think Ginnelly is not going to turn out as we hoped, Eom shouldn’t be out there and we need competition for Ronald and Bianchini.I think back in January he was listed as a winger on one of the sites I looked at but like I said rewatchijg his highlights reel he is mf or 10 and not a winger. Fotmob suggest he's played mainly in central midfield, but has also played as a DM, AM, RW and LW. Useful versatility there. His defensive stats are pretty good. Him and O'Brien as twin 10s in a 4-1-4-1 could be a formidable pairing.I think back in January he was listed as a winger on one of the sites I looked at but like I said rewatchijg his highlights reel he is mf or 10 and not a winger. A midfield trio of Franco, LOB and Widell sounds pretty exciting, especially if we can get more consistent end product out of Ronald, Eom and Vipotnik ahead of WidellFotmob suggest he's played mainly in central midfield, but has also played as a DM, AM, RW and LW. I think Ginnelly is done after the injury unfortunately. He was already injury-prone before and that's probably only getting worse. It's a shame, as at the very least he would be a fantastic option to bring on against tired defenders if he could get back to what he was showing before the injury.Saying that, we still have work to do with wide players. THat last bit regards Widell is my concern. Seems there is a lot of acceptance that Widell will just walk into the team and be the real deal.I think Ginnelly is done after the injury unfortunately. Sheehan doesn't seem to like Bianchini, which is a worry given he wasn't cheap and I doubt we'd get a lot for him right now. If Widdell locks down the 10 position, I think that means Eom will be a regular starter on the wing, as I think Sheehan will want them both in the starting 11 as much as possible (if Widdell is the player we hope he is of course).
I think there is considerably less chance of a slow start for Widell, than there was for Eom.THat last bit regards Widell is my concern. Seems there is a lot of acceptance that Widell will just walk into the team and be the real deal.
The kid is only 23 and we have seen how difficult it has been for players like Vipotnik, Eom and Bianchini to adapt to the championship and arguably coming to a new country at such a young age.
Hopefully he starts off like a Franco but we might need to be patient with him.
