I have no issue with the Fish ball playing ability, or shot stopping (although he did let some soft ones go through him). It is his totAL lack of presence that was a deal breaker. No command of his area and disappeared when 1:2:1 with an attacker.
Getting a keeper to come off his line at set pieces is quite a moot subject, whereas some keeper coaches like their keepers to stay on the line and whatever defensive wall to clear the ball, while other keeper coaches like their keepers to come off their line to catch or punch the ball away from goal. You make your own mind up which category our keeper coach advises his custodian to do.

Interesting that he just turned 40 and still got 16 starts for West Ham this season. Hasnt had a Poland appearance for 4 years so time to hang his boots up methinks
He retired from international football in 2021.

Apart from Woody, never seen the others play or even heard of them.
None of them have impressive stats. Riis got 20 goals and 6 assists in the 20/21 season and still only averaged 6.7 on Fotmob, which tells you something about his all round game.

Riis has always struck me as a tricky target man… causes teams lots of problems. Scored 12 goals in a poor, low scoring team.

Would offer something different for us.

Poor all round stats, especially passing ones. His goals this season (no better than Cullen) will attract interest, but hopefully not from us.

Well worth a watch. Donley and Small get a mention, the former as a loan signing, the other on a free.

Good video, thanks for sharing. Refreshing to see a journo with a good understanding of where we are.

For me I’d focus our recruitment on midfield and defence. I have hope Vipi will kick on

Thierry Small I am assuming when you say Small?
Would he be free given he is still only 20 so compensation would surely be required.

Knows his stuff him.

It really is weird that we ever signed Fisher. His average Fotmob rating in the two seasons before he joined us in League One with MK Dons were 6.4 in both seasons. His first season with us he averaged 6.3 and second 6.4. Anything under 6.5 is pretty poor. However this season he's averaged 7 with St Johnstone and has prevented 3.34 goals ( in other words he's made more saves than expected from the quality of chances). However his high claim rate of 0.67 per 90 is only 24th percentile. So we can conclude that he's having an exceptional season. He may be able to carry that forward but if we can let him go, even on a free, I think that's the way to go. He just doesn't inspire confidence.

Vigouroux has been great, but the high regard in which he's held is mainly a result of an excellent start. His form dipped, and overall his stats are slightly above average. His save percentage of 67.3 is only 43rd percentile. He's good but not that good.
Best keeper we've had since Fabianski

I agree, but that also is a reflection of our desperation in having at least a half decent goalie. Rushworth was highly regarded but only averaged 6.5 on Fotmob. Vigouroux averaged 6.88 on Fotmob which is a decent average, and a fair reflection of his overall contribution. Good goalie, but one that has been cut a bit of slack because of what went before him.

When I saw the name Donley for a moment I was reminded of Rory Donnelly.

A player with a ton of talent who spunked it all away with very poor decisions off the field
