"He barely crept into the top 10 despite playing the 3rd highest amount of minutes and was far below Josh Tymon and Matt Grimes - statistics without context when drilled in deep enough can be used to make just about any point."

Tymon's and Grimes' figures were substantially boosted by their set piece crosses from corners and free kicks, especially so in Grimes' case. As you say, stats without context...

As they say in the right hands statistics can be used to justify just about anything.

Bytholwyn called Ronald one of the most prolific crossers in the league, the stats I pulled up showed he wasn't even the most prolific crosser in the team let alone the league. He barely crept into the top 10 despite playing the 3rd highest amount of minutes and was far below Josh Tymon and Matt Grimes - statistics without context when drilled in deep enough can be used to make just about any point

Eom was ranked 38th in number of crosses but had more crosses per 90 minutes played (4.81 vs 4.20) than Ronald

That list proves that many stats are pointless. Neither Dan James or Manor Solomon feature on that list and they were arguably the best two wide players in the Championship last season.

Bottom line is a huge % of crosses come to nothing, so having the most crosses translates to very little (especially if the majority of them are high wide and handsome).
