Summer Transfer Window

Birmingham said to be in for Mitrovic. £12m bid accepted apparently. Throwing some serious money around.
Currently on 25m per year in wages. The 12m to sign him will be a drop in the ocean compared to whatever wages they give him on a 3 year contract.

Dont see that happening.

Birmingham 25m and 16m loss in last 2 accounts

They reset and can spend big this summer in the hope that before the end of the new three year period catches them they’ll be in the premier league.

At 12m that would have been a wtf signing let alone a wow signing
A team not on parachute payments would have to be off their rocker to pay that
Completely agree.

Birmingham will apparently be in close to parachute payment levels of income but it would still be ridiculous. Would be absolutely barking for us.

Mitrovic, the type of player we need. A bit of edge about him and a good goal scorer. Maybe we have our own in Vipotnik? Maybe.... Who knows. Maybe Hoping to Much there.

How does it work with the relegation and promotion.

e.g. one for the rules in league 1 is not spending more than 60% of turnover on player wages. I think they were well above 100%. Will they not get punished for that if the broke the FFP rules for league 1/2

also I think they had a net spend of 30m on transfers, before/after the june/july cutoff

So are you saying for PSR purposes they now have a clean slate of 3 years being back in the Championship? If so that's something that needs to be looked at, rules wise I think

I really dont know how a relegation/promotion affects things

The P&S rules effectively apply to championship and premier league. So the stuff below that doesn’t get taken into consideration.

On relegation from the premier league to the championship there are transition allowances which give them more leeway (allowing for the contracts that their players have I guess). So they are allowed higher than the £41.5m total 3 years loss. Effectively they have, I think, £35m allowed each year they were in the premier league and then £13m for championship. So if they made a loss of £25m last year, they have £13m plus the £10m they didn’t use last season. I think, anyway. That may be wrong.

On promotion to the championship it starts as year 1 of the rolling 3 years. I agree with you that that is bollox btw.

In league 1, I believe that owners are allowed to top up (inject equity) to get them over issues.

Birmingham and Wrexham are both able to spend a bomb this year.
