Was part of a 3 man team installing some kit above an underground ventilation shaft next to Kennington Park in London last week and there were dozens of these parakeets flying and screeching overhead every 10 minutes. Lovely colours when the sun gets on them.

By chance saw a Sparrowhawk swoop down into the garden earlier today. Took out an unsuspecting Robin. Photo's not the best but didn't want to get any closer to disturb it, it was there for a good 20 minutes plucking & devouring it!

Completely agree, just by chance I saw it swoop in and landed on one of our apple trees. So lucky with the timing.

Took this of a sparrow hawk on my shed giving me the evil eye.

Superb detail (but doesn’t look like either me or Mrs Mute 😉)

Someone upthread mentioned their parakeet visitors. Well, ding dong - just had one here (Sketty). He spent 5-10 minutes, mainly on niger seeds, with a few nuts to finish.

There's one doing the rounds in Morriston park way. Heard it a few times around Vicarage Road. Whenever I hear them call it reminds me of being in Nepal.

In other new has anyone been over to Sker House to see the Hoopoe? Went on Saturday for the Glamorgan bird club walk. Beautiful bird.
