Even more impressive in summer/breeding plumage like this one I snapped one June evening in the Orkneys a few years ago. There were about 20 in a partly newmown field and they were quite a sight.

Great shot. What focal length was that?

There's definitely something photogenic about birds of prey as quite a few of the recent posts on here would testify. Possibly two of the best BoP photographs I managed to get during one trip to Spain a few years ago were this Black Kite having its lunch and an elegant female Montagu's Harrier and one of the things these 2 shots have in common is that I didn't even need to get out of the car to take either of them!
