The Fish

Derek Bellotti
Yeah, he was baaad. I would put Dai the Drop up there as well. Lovely bloke, but I don’t think it’s a big imaginative stretch to say he might have cost us a real shot at the league title in 1982.

Fish’s delightful party piece of retreating into his own net at every available opportunity set him apart.

It seemed like an odd transfer at the time anyway. Weren’t we ‘ok’ for keepers at the time? Remember thinking it was a waste of 400k when we had other areas that needed strengthening.

You knew when MK Dons fans weren’t bothered about him leaving we was getting a dud, either way he’s supposedly on a decent wedge here so hopefully their paying at least half his wages.

Imagine having your playing career prospects smashed by the tactics of Russ Martin.

From the official St Johnstone site 😳

On his style of play as a goalkeeper, Andy added: “I like to say I am comfortable with the ball at my feet and I rate myself as a shot stopper.

Like that picture of a dog in the middle of a heard of sheep. :ROFLMAO:
This is Dave. Dave said he was a sheep dog. Don't be like Dave.

Think I’m on my own in thinking the shit he gets is over the top.
Goalkeepers are goalkeepers, he was hopeless as a sweeper but most would be.
He wasn't a great shop-stopper, but Martin brought him in to play with his feet which he was always pretty decent at. It became one of those slippery slopes, where he made a couple of errors, and then the pressure on him from the fans was pretty impossible to come back from. I remember him getting chastised for conceding a penalty at home to Brum, when he was given a suicidal backpass from Wood which he was never going to reach and had to clear the striker out. When you see fans getting on a player's back for stuff like that, there's no coming back for him.

He actually ended his last season here, 22/23, pretty well. Was MOTM at home to Coventry (I think) and was solid enough to at least be backup this season, but the fans have somehow turned on him even more since... not actually playing?

Another great signing by Russ. We paid actual money for that guy. If you ground him down to mince, they wouldnt even use him for faggots.

Looks like Fishers debut could be away to Rangers on Sunday..

Fish is on 10k per week. If we add Pedersen, Toe, Abbey and JM wages we must me hemorrhaging close to 80 - 100K a week on players not getting game time or contributing anything.

We're full of them. JM is a bit of a harsh add seeing as backup keepers shouldn't really be playing, but Naughton, Allen, and Christie will all be on a big wage and will be lucky to play 20% of our minutes this season. Admittedly, Christie started and Allen scored last week, but they've all got to be on the way out.

I reckon close to 40% of our wage bill could be gone by the start of next season.

500K as well, he actually pleaded for him and Darling who couldn’t get a game under Russ for awhile 2.5M in transfers.

I saw Dai the drop get a round in after we beat Forest away in 82.
John Mahoney passed him a pint and some joker shouted watch you dont drop it Dai.
He lifted him off the ground by his collar.
Strong fella Dai.
