The Official Match Thread | Season 2023/24 l Leicester City vs Swansea City | The EFL Championship

We don’t do that though, which is my point. We’ve a double pivot, both of which often look to recycle back to the defence because the passing lines out wide are easy to close off and there’s no other option. It works when we’re quicker back to front and there’s more space - that’s the Liverpool model, but we don’t play that quickly.
Agreed.
Though we don't have a double pivot. Grimes is and always will be our only pivot.
The overt recycling is a Martinwang hangover, which we're steadily shedding that rot.

Fults is a natural AM and started out as such (which most don't appreciate), and Grimes is a natural DCM (despite showing stardust as an AM early doors in his career). So they've both adapted from their early showings, and have developed beautifully as a highly credible midfield duo, with a chemistry many won't ever get. Just ask Patino, Im pretty sure he'll concur.

Win or lose, happy with our performance tonight. As a punter would be very interested to know the reasoning behind Patino’s limited game time given his talent.

Not a pen. Humphreys dallying caused that, Wood did really well to get back in to be fair.

We're playing against twelve men. TV replays shows that was never a penalty. Wood actually did very well and got a fair challenge in.

Never thought id say this tonight, but they don’t deserve to be 2 up.

Humphries powder puff in the tackle there. Should be ashamed of himself for that, Leicester player simply wanted it more.

They’re set up to be a pair, aren’t they? Fulton often shows for Rushworth and the CBs if Grimes pulls his marker away, and vice versa. Agreed on what they naturally are though - I wish we’d play to Fulton’s strengths.

Harsh pen that on the run of play, but that’s what Leicester do to teams. They’re annoyingly dull and efficient.
